Folks - I have 2 screen problems. The first is that I have a chip in the front that has been mended by autoglass but it's in my eye line and I would prefer to have the whole screen replaced - will they do this under the normal insurance?

If your vehicle is still under warranty you should be able to get the rear screen replaced free of charge.

Yeah £70 excess on my insurance, but I took the car from a dealer on the proviso that they would pay for the windscreen to be repaired/replaced. After I told them Autoglass quoted £871 for a new one they said they could get it done for less than £300. As you can imagine this sounds a bit dodgy to me and I'm not going to let them get some cowboy in to do it so just trying to get a price idea in my head before dragging the stealer over the coals.

Bullet - I have to pay the £60 excess & the VAT on the whole job; which in turn I will claim back off my VAT Bill.

So you are having to pay 300 odd ? Is that down to your insurer ? I had a few screen on last RRS 3 or 4 IIRC all around £1150 each and £50 each time |

Just had to replace my front screen on the RRS after it split from side to side. Cost from a local auto windscreen fitter was £500. My wretched insurance doesn't cover it, so I rang around, got the lowest quote, went back to the best sounding fitter, and he agreed to match it. List price of the screen from LR is about £380 plus VAT, so properly fitted for £500 all in seemed pretty reasonable to me. It was about 90 minutes labour for 2 guys who had driven a round trip of over 100 miles to do the job. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
