05 'S' model, wheels question

Hi. Did the RRsports come with 18" wheels on as standard on 2005 'S' models?
When i purchased my RRsport (05 - S model) a few months ago, it came with 18" wheels. I thought nothing of it but have always had my eye on upgrading them to 20" at the next given opportunity. Seeing as the vehicle was purchased from an LR dealership, the 18" wheel question never crossed my mind until recently. I'll cut to the chase!
On long journeys i have noticed that my trip computer is producing a higher mileage than my sat nav is stating. (Approx 15 miles more than the 185 mile journey on the sat nav -tomtom) Could this be because the wheels/ tyres are slightly smaller diameter than what should be on? All info is welcome. Confused

A 18" wheel will have the same circumfrence as a 20" wheel as the tyres size equalize the difference in wheel size

what size tyre do you have?

Don't think a 2005 car can take 20'' wheels though.......

Hi. 255/55/18
Great comfort and ride but this discrepancy in mileage got me wondering if the dealer may have thrown on a pair of 18's they had in stock to replace a tired looking set of wheels when the vehicle was traded in (hope you can follow)
Would this vehicle have originally been supplied with 18" wheels on?

Yes 18s were standard on the S. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

A great explanation with regards to the mileage? Anyone got any info on the 18" wheels? Also why would the 05 model not take 20" wheels? All info welcome. Smile

Something to do with the steering rack....Tim, Bobby, VA can confirm.....they know more about this I'm sure. I know when I first went to buy one in 2006, the HSE did not come with 20'' wheels...only shortly after it was an option.....

20" wheels will fit on all model years of the RRS.

Nick your thinking of the dampened steering rack. LR recommend that you should only run 20" wheels and tyres on vehicles fitted with the steering dampers.

I've recently fitted 20" wheels to my non dampered RRS and I haven't found any difference in ride comfort at all. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Hi TB, thanks for that, what size tyres did you fit with the 20" wheels if you don't mind me asking?

You have ther correct tyres and rims fitted to your car.

Landrover have a very optimistic comp to make the the MPG look much better than it really is Smile
