2010 20" SC alloys onto 2005 TDV6

Can someone confirm if the new 2010 alloys will retro fit a 2005 RRS?

LR say no, not without modification and would therefore not recommend (but they would say that).

If the modification is just spacers, would anyone here approve fitting them or steer clear?

Any thoughts or comments..

Cheers

As far as I know they'll only fit MY2006 onward models. It has to do with the steering dampers or something I reckon. If you do a serach you should find a post or two about this topic this forum. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

OK - so it looks like mine has the dampers fitted - Very Happy

So does this mean that it's ok to fit the new MY2010 20" alloys straight onto my RRS?

Will they be a straight fit or require any special adaptors or spacers etc?

Thanks

I would think that they are a straight fit mate, plus if you have the upgraded dampers then there should be no issue at all Thumbs Up

Thanks for getting back so soon.

Just bought a set of originals off Fleabay, rims only, 400 miles of use for £490 which is less than the cost of a set of copies!

Now have to work out how to ship them safely to Stockholm from Dorset Confused

Cheers for your help

Have a look at "wheel courier" or "interlindirect". Though, which ever you choose, make sure that the seller packs them for you so that they don't get damaged Thumbs Up

A few more concerns from me:

Please BOB can you give advise?

I've not the dampened rack, and yes i just bought 4 new 20's SC 10 spokes!

1-Is it possible to upgrade the stearing rack, without replacing it completely?

2-Apart from the rack, the wheels wil fit on the car, right?

3-What happends if i just go ahead with my newly bought 20's with a non damped rack?

4-If the cars reacts good, it doesn't shimmy etc, will the 20's cause dammage to the car in the future?

Thanks

SW

Mate, you can fit the 20" on your car but the steering rack will long term not cope with the larger wheels. Personally I think that it is not worth risking Rolling Eyes
Unfortunately I can not answer your question on upgrading/changing of the rack Thumbs Up

Just for others who may later search this thread, see below photo's of TDV6 with and without steering damper fitted ( as per post from BOB LR service bulletin)....

WITHOUT steering damper fitted

note - for those super sharp eyed ones, yes one is LHD and the other RHD, but it's not important!

I've tried checking my rack and I'm struggling to find what I'm looking for in the photos. Do you need to jack the car up or remove any covers etc.

Good news, looks like my 2005 has the dampened rack.
For those struggling to find what you're looking for you need to remove the near side front wheel and all will become clear following the earlier photos.
Thanks for everyones input.

Looking at the original question, I think we also need to answer this...

Are the 2010 20" SC Alloys the same as the 2005 20" Stormer Alloys? Question

The TSB quoted above was to address concerns at that time because some owners were replacing their wheels with the Stormer ones (which were only available with the "SC First Editions"). However, since then all RRS are equipped with the 'dampened' steering.

Whether the wheel geometry, bolt pattern, offset etc has remained the same all these years, I'm not sure. Malaysia Boleh!
