Yes but LAND ROVER recommend only left and right hand side rear seats only. Although the middle has the capability, LAND ROVER recommend only the above!

I have an RRS in Sweden (same spec as UK though apart from LHD) and in my handbook it says ALL seat positions are suitable for Isofix at any age. I can scan and post if you want to see.

Sweden is paranoid about safety, even more so when it comes to kids in the car.

"Did you know that it's five times safer for a child to be rear facing? Scandinavian children are rear facing until they are 4–5 years old (25kg or 55lbs), which has resulted in a much lower number of children injured or dead in car accidents compared with other countries, as for instance the UK."

Visit http://rearfacing.co.uk/index.php and look at the Besafe ISofix. We bought it, wasn't cheap, but combined with RRS, I think you are pretty much as protected as you can be.

Please consider rear facing, I would NEVER put our children any other way. When we fly to UK and hire a car, I always bring our seats with us, pain in the 4ss, but the difference in the unlikely event will be significant.

We saw this and it made up our mind immediately.

My son is just 4 months old so we now have the seat rear facing at the mo'. We were going to put it frint facing as soon as he hits around 9kg weight. The problem is that whilst rear facing it leaves little room for the passenger seat to go back, and thus there is now very limited legroom for the front passenger. I couldn't fit the passenger seat now for sure! My partner is 5'11" and is not that comfortable!

2nd rower,

I completely agree with the room issue - going rear facing when older (our son is 11KG 18 months old) - and I am 181CM (which in old money is about 5.11 I think) and it isn't perfect in the front.

Although we have the Besafe seat in the reclined position so our son can sleep better, it still works for me. If you use the full upright position on the Besafe, it gives much more room. Also play around with the front seat settings, height, reclin etc. We found by doing this we found more room as the mechanism that raises the seat also puts it back and forth to a degree.

We also use a neck pillow on our son (the one that looks like a motorsport neck brace, velcro'd at the front) - we thought he would hate it, but he loves it. It so soft and cosy, but more importantly, when he falls asleep his head stays upright and doesn't drop forwards (not a problem in the full reclined position anyway).

Also, just be aware of your driving technique, remember that once the baby gets used to acceleration and braking when facing one way, they have to adopt for the other 'alien' way.

Finally, you need to of course find a balance between practicallity and safety, but just watch the video on YouTube I posted, I choose to compromise on my perfect front seat comfort for our family - but it's a personel choice - you are doing all the right things by firstly being concerned
