Had my 90 in the local non-franchised service place for it's annual service and to cure a lack of power problem. On the list of jobs to do in addition to the service was to also supply and fit a replacement grille over the top end of the Safari Raised Air Intake that I have. I managed to break this while driving through between trees in the Argyll Forest last summer and didn't do anything about it. This evening the garage phoned back to say the car was ready for collection and that they have cured the lack of power and it won't happen again now I have a new top plate on the RAI! Right down inside the bottom of the RAI at the actual air filter they found a dead Blue Tit. I have no idea how it got there as I don't recall driving into any birds and I can only think that it had been looking for a nice place to build a nest and had got stuck inside the plastic casing, died and it's little carcass had fallen into the air box..  2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

When I collected the car this afternoon they had even preserved the evidence for me! But now I have a stainless steel grille on the intake which will not get broken so easily!

Interesting - the car went in for a "pre-MOT" service and a few bit to be looked at and repaired, collected it this afternoon and it has been MOT'd yet they didn't have the last MOT and it isn't due until 24th Feb........... and the specialists are not an MOT test station they farm it out to another local garage. It's all legit but a bit strange that did another MOT without the docs from last year and without asking for it to be done - I'm not complaining as it isn't listed on the invoice and it will save me having to take the car to the nearest MOT station in February. Car sailed through it with no failures but two remarks................... one headlight will need replacing soon and one antiroll bar bush was slightly damaged but not enough to effect the system's preformance or the safety of the vehicle. Think a lot of garages just put in for an MOT to see what fails as its Pre MOT test, usually works out cheaper as then they only do the work as needed. Must of forgotten to add it to the bill!

Years ago I was driving an artic up through the Borders near Kielder when a flock of pigeons shot out of the trees. Caught one with a resounding thump so when I stopped for fuel had a look round the front to check nothing was broken and thought no more about it!

Couple of weeks later I noticed a funny smell in the cab now and again but again never thought much about it! (You can tell where this is going I bet!)

Anyway 1 day the stink starts getting unbearable on a really hot day so I got out and it seemed strongest at the front of the unit! I opened the grill and couldn't see anything for a kick off!

Then I saw it! A HUGE splatter of bird crap! And further back wedged between the radiator and the chassis was one well cooked pigeon!

How it got through the slats of the grill I don't know but it had swollen with the heat from the radiator and was as solid as rock! I had to get the cab tilt bar out to prise it out of there!

Didn't know 1 pigeon could hold so much poop like!!!
