Brakes recall

So you've just fought your way into town, down the slippery, snowy roads avoiding the Coffin Dodgers; who just 'have to go out!' , doing a mate a favour - Get home to find a letter from LR saying you might just be one of those 'lucky' folks with the 'Brake Vacuum Assistance System' problem and give us a call.

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I took mine into the dealer for replacement discs and pads all round in December, and when I returned to collect it and pay for the work they advised me:

"We have carried out a recall job on the braking system whilst it was with us. This will save you bringing it back when you get the letter from LR. When you do get the notice just ignore it"

Still not heard a thing Shocked

(Mind you its only the brakes Rolling Eyes)

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

This recall (P017) is from last year and it concerns some of the 2.7L TDV6 on the D3 and RRS.

Quote:
A concern has been identified on the above vehicles where oil is collecting in the brake booster
causing a progressive loss of brake assistance, resulting in hard brake pedal and increased
stopping distances for the same pedal effort. Engine oil in the brake master cylinder will lead to a
loss of one or both of the foundation brake system hydraulic brake circuits and therefore
increased brake pedal travel, increased stopping distances and, in the event of both primary and
secondary brake master cylinder seal failure, a total loss of service brakes.

Temporary sticking of the non-return valve leads to a temporary loss of vacuum assistance on
the braking system. The hydraulic braking system itself remains fully functional. Once the valve
has unstuck the booster vacuum is immediately restored, full braking assistance is available, and
the brakes perform normally for the remainder of that drive cycle.

Amazing it takes so long for them to recall though, thought a braking issue would be addressed as urgently as possible ?
