Im looking to try some off roading in the RRS in Scotland in a few weeks.

Join the Scottish Land Rover Owners Club , they have offroad days, offroad racing and "green road" drives for those who don't want mud in their wheelarches X5. They have a website and forums too. If you fancy a run in some more serious offroad conditions where no sane RRSport owner would take their car then I usually have an empty seat in the front of my Defender.
The nearest pay and play to you is along near Strathaven, but there is no way i would take a Sport over it especially on 20's and road tyres!! Another site is at Strathmeiglo in Fife - Scottish Offroad Driving Centre, which has runs that you could take the RRS over as I took my FFRR over some of their trails. I'll be going to the non competitive SLROC events while I am at home.
Just checked the SLROC events and the next one is a Tyro (family driving day!) at Manor Powys near Alloa if you want to meet me and go along in the Defender X5. One thing is we have to be there by 0930 on the 10th as NetworkRail have to unlock the rail crossing gates and once there you cannot leave until they come and let us out again! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

cheers tim, i quite fancied taking the RRS off road simply to get an understanding of what it can do. Its my bday in January and Mrs X5PEA and i were planning to get out heads down at Gleneagles for the weekend and get along to the LR Experience up the road. I might just pay the extra and go out in one of their RRS's Thumbs Up

May well take you up on that Defender offer tho, i'll come back to you,

One word of warning - the wheels on the RRS are very soft and any mud with stones in it will scratch the hell out of your wheels. If you want to go off roading be prepared to buy a 2nd set of wheels for the job. Apart from that have fun - this car can do things others simply dream of and look good in the process. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I can vouch for what VA says, I had mine offroad within hours of getting the vehicle and eventually got stuck in the peat bog leading to getting the 20" wheels well and truly scratched. Now bought 19" wheels and MT/R tyres and it really makes a big diffrence to the cars ability. I would happily tackle anything that the other LRs will tackle as long as the car will fit!

did you get the 20's repaired? i have suffered the same fate, a friend owns a few garages and can get them fixed for £45 each - is that a good price?
