United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

IIRC it has to be in N to switch from High to Low range - at least it does on mine

It does need to be in N, so if you do the swap between hi and lo at that speed you would have to "coast" while it does the job and then shift it back into D or commandshift! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ash I wouldn't try changing from Hi to Lo box at anything above 15mph, I think you would leave a lot of cogs on the road under the car! I think the electronics won't allow you to shift Hi to Lo anyway above 15mph

Agreed Tim Thumbs Up that is why i put at low speed, on an LRE day our instuctor explained the need to be able to pull a trailer off wet grass and then change to high range without stopping.....

Start off in low range then when the car is rolling pop into N, switch to high range, back into drive and away you go. We practised this a few times without any problems.....

I have also used it for real last winter, when coming off back roads in heavy snow in low range, then when you hit a main road, you can switch over without the dangers of stopping MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Java Black

Had to stick the RRS into low ratio and select the snow program on Sunday to get up a hill that was a total nightmare with snow and ice. Managed to get the car to the top and down safely to the other side. Winter tyres fitted all round certainly helped!

Superb in bad weather Thumbs Up

Great Tip Tim - thanks for that. I had already posted regarding the HDC - your suggestion answers this.
One good reason I suppose for an official LR off-road experience.
Roll on tomorrow!

LRE are an excelent way of learning more about your RRS, all the operating systems and the handling, with the added benefit of being in someone elses car Thumbs Up MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc
