OMG Can't believe someone would do that. Any update from the police/insurance? Sorry to see what has happened.

still nothing concrete from the police - things a bit different over here concerning procedures. there have been a few suggestions about electrical fault but it does seem strange that any such fault would start down under the back wheel!! I was called about 2 mins after it was noticed and it was already fiercely burning around back wheel. Then it just took off like a roman candle. anyway, the wreck is with the LR workshop until insurance company does its thing and the forensics give one more look over. RRS TDV6 (gone)

Rear wheel could it have been a failed EPB heating drum to ignition?

interesting theory - bit extreme however. I parked at 7pm and this happened at 11.30. It had been below zero for previous few days with lots of snow etc keeping temp down. Actually hadn't engaged EPB for the time in case it might lock up. Doesn't mean it's not possible however but watching the way it burned it seems unlikely RRS TDV6 (gone)

It was just a thought, but your time scales seem to rule it out |
