New RRS but dissapointment on first day

Picked up new RRS 3.0 yesterday

By the time I had got it home (150 miles) the radio/sat nav unit had switched itself off and refuses to come back to life. So within 24 hours of ownership it is booked in for its first workshop visit, which cannot be for another 10 days..... cos alot of staff are off over the Christmas period!

Parked it in the garage last night and in the morning garage stinks of diesel. ( yes I know about the heater as have a disco as well. It is much worse that any smell the heater makes)

Then to cap it all having a look around my new baby this morning I notice that the carpets fitted are ill fitting pattern types and not the ally cornered premium ones with Range Rover written on them even though they were the ones I paid for!

I only waited 3 months and spent £50K for this wonderful experience.

Anyone think I should go ballistic with Land Rover or just be pleased I have a proper one with all the built in faults.

Sorry to hear about your problems........

I must admit apart from the 'Gearbox fault' message and the driver door floor trim continually 'un-popping' itself, I don't have any problems that I know about.

You should be the dealers absolute priority to get the car sorted...I would ask them to collect it first thing Monday morning and suggest they bring it up to standard immediately and you will contact LR customer services if you get the 'brush off'.

Its not your problem they've haven't got their staff rota sorted, but it is their problem that they have an disillusioned customer.

Don't accept 2nd class service, you paid for a 1st class car.......if you don't insist they act responsibly, then mediocrity will continue.

Good luck.............and who is the dealer? .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??

Sorry to hear about it mate...
I will only give you the advice I was given when my brand new RRS broke down on the way from dealer "DON'T PANIC, it is a Land Rover, though we still love it for what it is" Thumbs Up

Id have driven it back and parked it blocking their entrance if a BRAND new cars radio and sat nav stopped working on the same day i bought it and they refused to even look at it for 10 days. Having an issue is one thing which shouldn't happen but its bound to here and there and technically not the dealers fault on a new car but for them to not want it back in asap is ridiculous.

Definitely don't accept that level of service.

Congrats on the purchase though. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

My 2010 RRS HSE LUX Sport with every option had the Supplemental Restraint System (Airbag) wire loom under the passenger seat misrouted over the seat track. The car wash moved the seat back and crushed the whole wire loom and after a whopping 38 miles on the car the dealer immediately took it back and order me an identical car. Currently I am driving around in the Supercharged Loaner until my new one arrives, they are paying my loan until the I am back in a new car and the GM said he would take me shopping in the Land Rover store for some aftermarket goodies.

That’s what I call customer service!!!

My big issue is a feel like I married and English Supermodel but can’t sleep with her. The Dealer has setup a private room for me and the ailing sport and we do get to get some good quality personal time together.

I'm afraid the response you received from the dealer is typical - they view such faults as not being their problem but Land Rover's problem. They refuse to go the extra mile for the car they sold you but happily pocket the sales comission. I had a similar problem with a post delivery fault and now go to another dealer for the warranty work - MY10 TDV8 due back for it's 3rd workshop visit at the end of this month. The new dealer is 100 times more helpful even though they didn't sell me the car - they actually seem to care about the brand (and realise, unlike the idiots I bought the car from that their success is linked to Land Rover's).

You should consider naming the dealer in the Dealership Feedback section.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted - they are great cars when you eventually get them finished properly and working.

That has been a known problem on a number of units in OZ, mine included, how the hell after 3 plus years can they still not route and secure a major piece of cabling through the cabin.. is'nt that something a spotty apprentice would be taught in their first few months... Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Buddy, you seem to mention the happy owner thread very often. I tried to look for it, but did not succeed. Could you post a link to that thread please? Thanks. Vadim A.
