Actually, mine are a little rusty... I noticed it within weeks really. Although it hasn't got any worse in the intervening 7 months though. Nothing to worry about, other than the fact it looks a bit odd.

I tend to save things up until the service is required, if it's not anything showstopping/dangerous etc. I can't say I'm the world's proudest car owner - I don't wash them very often, I don't treat them with kid gloves. I suppose I know I'm offloading it in a couple of years and the problems can be someone else's....

The dealer has offered to take photographs of them and send them to Landrover while its in tomorrow having the handbrake replaced (apparently causes the excessive whining I have recently experienced, which is also a reasonably common fault?) |

Used to be a problem on my TD6 RR, but I've never suffered it on my Sport.... Howard I think a visit to your dealer is called for. There is a Tech Bulletin about excessive brake dust staining alloys on early cars but nothing about hubs. Sorry, cannot help any further than that. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

I'm out of school quite a long time now so I may have forgotten my basic chemistry, but am I not correct in saying that rust = ferrous oxide = "oxidation"? RRS TDV6 (gone) RRS TDV8 HSE(gone, burned out) ML 320 CDI Airmatic |

I noticed some surface rust on rear N/S hub. None on the actual brakes yet though.
