2007 TDV8 What to look out for?

I am looking at a 2007 34,000 mile TDV8 tomorrow and wanted tips on anything I especially should look out for.

I assume that at this mileage it will be well through a set of brake pads? Anyone know if it has an aux MP3 input in the head unit as standard?

Advice appreciated.

Thanks. Very Happy

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The Aux input is behind the centre cubby box in the where the switches for the heated rear seat are, unless the owner has had the optional dash mounted holder to the right of the steering wheel or the other version that is in the top glovebox.

Check the coolerbox is working.
Check if the owner has a cradles for the phone bracket under the cubby box lid - 2007MY still had the bracket but didn't come with the cradle, you had to buy one for whichever phone you had. Also check they haven't cut out (literally!) the bracket and wiring - many people do for some odd reason.

Try to get a test drive over some speed bumps and check for the front suspension rattle - sign of worn bushes.
EPB's on 2007 and later don't seem to have the same seizing on problems that earleir cars had but check that out.
Open the rear cover for the towkit and check to see if there are the electrics there - then ask for the detachable towbar - they cost a packet and lots of people selling RRS seem to forget to leave the detachable towbar in the slot in the boot when they sell it on - at £300 it's an expensive item even if you don't intend to tow.

Release the EPB and check the car goes smoothly up and down from access to Off road height.
Start engine and put gearbox into neural, open the drivers window and then press the Hi/Low ratios button - the transfer case should operate smoothly and quietly between hi and low box - any creaking or sticking shows the owner has not followed the instructions in the manual and has not operated it regularly and the transfer box is seizing up. This is a sure sign that the car has only ever been a motorway or school run car (why would you want low ratio for that!) - also a sign that it has never been offroaded!

Put the suspension in offroad height and take a look under the front for offroad damage (some, just a few do get into muddy situations!)

Look at the front tyres - check that they have even wear - RRS can suffer badly with the outer or inner shoulders wearing badly (although my original Pirelli tyres are hardly worn after 21500miles without needing re=alignment)

Wheels should be the 10 V spoke "supercharged" style - no others apart from the Stormer or the 20" split rims were available from the factory. If anything else is fitted check they are rated for speed and the weight of the RRS. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
