Trade in valuations

Hi, New here and have been searching through all the forums to get a feel for the place. Very interesting and not unlike 911uk.com where I will hopefully be migrating from full time fairly soon.

Anyway, to the point. Have spent last 2.5years driving 997 carrera as a daily drive. With growing family I need to swap for something with more space and more luxurious interior. I have always liked the look of the RRS and would ideally like to get a TDV8 probably on 07 plate. Found one which would probably tick all the boxes except for what I think is a ludicrously low part ex offer. The dealership is part of a group which has at least one Porsche dealership. The dealer is offering CAP prices but I always thought Glass's prices were closer on part ex valuations. Would love to hear your thoughts and would provide more details if required. Many thanks in advance.

CAP prices are always lower, dealers will tend to buy with that guide and sell with Glass's. They shouldn't be to far off each other.

Sell your Porsche on Pistonheads first is my advice, then go shopping with cash. Or, why not buy a brand new RRS, 2 yrs interest free money on the APP deal through LR. You should beable to just part ex the 997 as the deposit and drive out in a 2010 Sport, subject to availibility. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

Some dealers will use the lower of the two.

As your dealer has Porsche in group he will be encouraged to keep the car in group and therefore will not be speaking to other Porsche dealers.

We will always gain three franchised underwrites and take the highest.

It also depends on the spec as I have just paid £2k over Glass's for an 08 Targa Tip. If it's the right spec then Porsche dealers are prepared to spend the money.

Gazzer is right.... depending on the equity in the 911 (if you funded it) then I'd try to find a new 2010 on 0% APP pre-VAT increase. Sadly I'm all out until late Jan/Feb.

In summary, don't take that first bid... do some legwork yourself and take it to a couple of Porsche dealers as they will want to see if it's been a track-day-warrior for themselves, otherwise they'll air on the side of caution.

If you have the use of another car or are prepared to rent one then as Gazzer says, sell it privately (Pistonheads or Top Marques) and go shopping with the cash.

James Thumbs Up

Many thanks for the replies. I think selling it on pistonheads and shopping with cash may well be the way to go. Hope to be in one before Christmas though.
