It is now down to Range Rover to supply a vehicle in order to keep mobile. I have to say that GS are doing every thing in there power to rectify the problem. They immediately offered me a full refund when asked.. I gave this some thought but turned this down.

Hopefully this will be sorted for the weekend.

I pushed as hard as I could with GS they said they just do not have the cars any more for situations like this.

Whilst GS have dong everything in there power to help me with this problem apart from as you say offering use of there demonstrator, the same can not be said of RR customer services. I have had more intelligent and respectful conversations with my dog.

Hopefully my car will be sorted for the weekend. I am just drafting a letter to the UK president of Tata. Whom I met in person earlier this year.

I am also writing to the Business Secretary lord Mandleson. I do not feel that hard earned tax payers money should be going in to company’s that can not be bothered to get there customer services in order.

The facts of my Problem are as follows.

I took delivery of my 3.0V6 HSE approx 5 weeks prior to the incident. This is my 6th sport, so I am well up to speed with issues that are associated with owning RR product. However my last one ran faultlessly for 30 months and 45k miles.

From the very first day I experienced a turbo lag style of the engine with what I considered to be poor MPG. I discussed this with not only my supp dealer but also alternative ones.

I put the lag down to a characteristic of the engine, and the poor MPG I was advised that this would improve with miles.. At this time I accepted these explanations as reasonable.

My car was filled with fuel on the 7th and travelled a maximum of 180 miles , When whilst driving in the out side lane of a very busy motorway with out any prior warning I suffered a total loss of power.

At this time the fuel reading on the computer was showing 138 to empty and showing half full of fuel.

The car eventually was returned to the supplying dealer who diagnosed that it had in fact ran out of fuel. This is dispute the car covering only 180 miles from the fill up and the on board computer showing half a full and 138 to empty.

I feel that I should point out that the supplying dealer has done every thing within there power in order to bring this matter to a speedy resolution.

My car is with the dealer who like you has been excellent. They are waiting for parts that are on back order at LR. Dealer supplied me with a Jag for 7 days now LR have supplied through a car hire Company a 09 RRS. Arrived last night and today the sat Nav packed up on way to work and radio has no sound! In addition the drivers seat moves forward slightly when you brake - most concerning !!Great advert for LR.

Can't believe that parts are on back order at LR on a car that is only 6 weeks old. They must be very busy !!!!

Really takes the shine of what should be a fabulous car. If it wasn't for the dealer I would have told LR where to stick this car. Now waiting for the car hire Company to contact LR about the issues with my relief vehicle. What a farse!

If you was recovered by LRA why have they not sourced you a RRS FFRR D3/4 via Enterprise? or was it Enterprise who offered the FL2?

I have in the past been told by Enterprise that they had no LR product to give me and supplied me with a brand New Vauxhall Insignia until they could source a LR, but i said i was happy as the car was only in for 2 days

If Land Rover Assistance Attend, and even if they get you going, so you can take it to the dealers next day, they have a obligation to supply a loan car whilst yours is in, great when the dealer has no loan cars

I have demanded at the very least a discovery. I can have a immediate full refund but no discovery.

All I get from RR customer services, is a robotic response as in it states in the hand book that we will not supply like for like but we will keep you mobile.

It appears that RR have deal with enterprise and whilst they might run discovery’s or better, there are not (surprisingly if my car is a reflection on the 2010 model )at present none available.

Hence a VW Passat is keeping my Porsche Turbo and LP640 company.

Now then which is best Lambo or Porker?

Not going to talk about MY10 RRS any more ity just winds me up!

just so you know Enterprise told me they charge LR exactly the same whether they provide a FL2 or a FFRR

Enterprises have also brought a LR for me from other branches to full fill their commitment that if a LR breaks down a LR is provided, its part of their contract with them

To be fair enterprise have offered a freelander 2. To which I rejected in favour of the passat as in it was auto for my wife to drive.

My issue is that I do not feel that it is in any way unreasonable to pay 55k for car, that brakes down within 5 weeks, is of the road for almost 7 days and there is no like for like vehicle or very close to it made available.

One decision I have made is that if the same problem occurs again once my car is returned. I will not put my self in danger whilst trying to navigate to the hard shoulder. I will leave in the out side lane.

RR can then read about it on Sky News, maybe then they will take more care when building cars

I agree, you would think they would jump through hoops to help, but alas they jump the other direction

I would also leave it were it breaks down if it happens again, until Help can arrive and make it safer to get it to the hard shoulder

You have to put yourself and family first, If a driver then drives into it they obviously have been driving out of the stopping parameters of their car and/or vision

but then you have to see if you can cope without a car until the insurance settle, or even worse a repaired car then at least your safe
