MPG TDV8 - HSE 3.0V6

Ran a TDV8 for 30 months. Driving round town 23.-26. On run say to London and back from Midlands driving style not hanging around if you get my point, but keeping in line with speeding enforcement devises 27-32

HSE 3.0 V6
5 weeks old and 2k miles.
Driving like nun backing off all the time absolute min use of throttle around town max achieved thus far 23.9

On a run to mid Wales and back stuck in enforced 50 MPH zones for 70% of trip. 27 MPH.

The V8 in my view is not only better on MPG but a much more relaxing car to drive. Along with far superior mid range performance

After all the TDV8 is the engine that was designed for the car. The 3.0 V6 is a re map of the JAG unit.

MPG of no use to me, set my trip computer to miles per litre, showing about 6mpl at the mo......

You don't buy a 2.4t car for it's economy, heck fuel is so cheap compared to the amount these cars lose each week in depreciation...... 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

I'd get the car look at by the garage mate, I drive mine hard all the time and I always get better mpg than that! I got 37mpg for my journey to work the other day (30 miles) just by taking it a little easier. Sorry but no way is the TDV8 more economical. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Richard

Hi Richard

If you are returning this kind of MPG you are correct this way more than a TDV8.I even did the fill up and re fill up in order to test the MPG.

After nearly killing me last Thursday night my car is a present with the supplying dealer. Initial inspection shows a fault with one of the fuel cells in the car, along with fuel leak.

My car was filled to the brim and after 130miles was bone dry. Hence the loss of power however the gauge was showing more than half full.

The very best indicated fuel economy on my TDV8 is 44.3 mpg.

This was straight after re-fuelling off a dual carriageway. I re-set the computer and tucked in behind the artics and let the adaptive cruise control do it's thing. The fuel economy just kept going up and up until after some 30 odd miles I reached the magic figure. Shortly after that I turned off the dual carriageway.

Does the new 3.0l sound as good as the TDV8? - the soooothing burble of the V8 is worth at least 5l/100 to me.

after nearly 2k miles i reset my trip counter (was about 24mpg). Now after 550 miles (approx 500 on the motorway) I am at 26.7mpg. Alot was on cruise control at around 80mph'ish. I was expecting more - oh well.
