Not had an S8 but for me now I sampled the S series Audi (along with many other versions) and had the 2.7 RRS I would stick with the Audi everytime..

Don't get me wrong the RRS is a fine machine Bow down and I'm sure the 3.0TD is even better than the 2.7 but for me I wasn't using enough of the RRS's capabilities to justify the cost of owning so down sized to the S4. Although it's thirstier Twisted Evil than the RRS it's sssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooo much fun to drive Thumbs Up Bow down Thumbs Up Bow down Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

"Sorry to ask the same question, but what makes you want to swap a S8 for a 3.0 RRS?
Ohhh, how about a TDV8 instead? You are free to collect any day if you leave the S8 with me "

Good question and something that makes me think am I daft going for a RRS ...as far as a TDV8 goes Stratstone dealer seemed less than keen to offer it telling me that TDV6 almost on a par performance wise??? Also can get TDV6 end of this month whereas TDV8 would be Jan next year

Switzerland 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I know somebody who drove a BMW M5 and Audi S6 and he changed to a RRS. He said to me the RRS TDV8 much comfortable and he don't need V10 anymore. It depends on what you like. The RRS is a luxury SUV(the FFRR much more luxury). The Audi is more sporty.
My girlfriend has an Audi S5 and the engine is awesome. (I know I can't compare a S5 with a S8; sorry wachyjim) I only drive short distance because it's very uncomfortable and I often have to stop at the gas station (60 liter is too small). A RRS has got 80 liters. Wink

Jim,

sounds like Stratstones maybe looking after themselves first and you second.

The TDV8 is much better than either of the 2.7 or the 3.0 TDV6, the fact they can supply a 3.0 TDV6 now and a TDV8 in Jan sounds like they don't want you to get the TDV8 elsewhere.

Depends what you want but coming from an S8 you'll notice the difference more in the TDV6 than the TDV8.

TDV6 is still a great car though, suggest you test drive a TDV8 before you make up your mind. Thumbs Up

If he make a test drive with a TDV8 he will buy a TDV8 and not a TDV6. Wink

If you survive the 13th you can also wait until January for the TDV8. Wink
And which color do you want?

Mate, definitely drive the TDV8 first. And I would even advise you to test drive the 5.0 S/C. I can guarantee that you will fall in love with it and end up getting one Laughing

If you drove it a nd liked it so much you bought one, why do you care what we think?!

Get in the V6 and when the all new TDV8 comes out, jump into that. Now if you are talking 5.0ltr S/C, that's a different story all together.......... 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

Just off the phone with Stratstone salesman telling them I might quite like to go for a TDV8 rather than a TDV6 and that to save him time I had already established that another LR dealership had one in stock...Well it seems that Stratsone are not allowed/prepared to source other vehicles from outside of their group or so I'm told and that as they have no more RRS MY2010 and wont have now until Feb2010 then that is that????? Is this right??? or is this them trying to push me into this one to meet their own sales target. I would have thought if there is such a shortage of RRS MY2010 then it wouldn't be too difficult moving on my TDV6 if I did eventually go for the TDV8. As this is my first RRS I can't say I'm really enjoying the buying process with Stratstone,,, If it wasn't for the £500 deposit I might have considered pulling out Banging Head
