Hi guys i need to change the tyres on my rrs i have the 20'' wheels
basically the choice is the contis for 1800
and theyre offering me bridgestone dueler h/p for 1200

what do u think? anyone tried the bridgestones?

I had to change my Conti's as 15,000km - the shoulders were completely worn, although the dealer said this was normal and the tyres were good for another 5,000km. On an offroad trip I lost two tyres at the same time(cuts in the sidewalls) and so decided to change all 4 tyres, I went for the Bridgestone Duellers (same size and spec you mention). I have now had the Duellers for 10,000km and there is very little sign of sidewall wear - I am very happy with their performance and would consider them again. Apparently there is also a Cooper tyre with the same profile, but it has a tougher sidewall - the Dealer mentioned that other unhappy Conti users had switched to these. I couldn't source them at the time.

I am looking for some 19' rims that I can use with suitable offroad tyres - I have had enough of the very low profile on bad roads - I think sidewalls should be at least 55mm. We have plenty of potholes on our roads, and these can lead to rim damage and/or cut sidewalls with the very low profile tyres.

i was just worried that the bridgestones wont provide the same grip like the contis and of course the biggest credibility for the contis is that they are oem and LR still supplies them on all their models even the new 2010 models.

The Bridgestones are 1200 dollars compared to 1800 for the contis! Its a tough choice! Im not sure what to do!

Believe me the roads here in Lebanon are prob even worse than yours and its a nightmare running on 20s but i cant live without them they look so much better on the car! it looks completely different...

Any further advice? I need to decide!

I have had no problems with the handling of the Duellers - in fact they feel no different to the Contis - same grip, same road noise. (and they have the necessary speed rating)
I don't know much about car manufacture, but wouldn't be surprised if the tyre manufacturer had to bid for the oem status (in other words, pay some type of rebate to the manufacturer).

Im not sure if you have them in lebanon but pirelli scorpions 275/40/20 are also OEM for land rover. They came on mine from new and are longer lasting than the conti's. They are usually priced similar to the conti's though, WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph
