it is kind of important because I am looking to keep the RRS for a fair bit of time and in milan from end 2009 euro4 will need to pay a circulaiton tax in the center (they put cameras everywhere)

you wil still be able to circulate freely with a euro4 with FAP filter..

but looking forward they might ban euro4 s with filter sooner and while the euro5 s would still be able to access the center freely for longer

it's pure guessing again, but it should make sense

All new engines from 9/09 must be EURO V (that's why JLR strangled to put out the new car before September with a new engine which is EURO V compliant although only with DPF).

They're the European emissions regulations... Euro 5 is more stringent than Euro 4. Details will be on the net somewhere I expect

A DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter....

Definately.

I know a few people that have cars with the DPF and they have had nothing but problems with them. Most end up having to have it replaced because it doesn't self clean properly. Expensive.

received this email from LR UK today:

Further to our telephone conversation of yesterday I can confirm that the tail pipe of the 2010 Range Rover Sport does exit downwards in the same way as the previous model.

I can also confirm that the TDV8 engine is Euro 4 compliant. The new 3.0 TDV6 is Euro 5 compliant when fitted with the optional Diesel Particulate filter and Euro 4 without.

and the new TDV8 will surely cost at least 5K more then the current as now the price difference (if you spec up the TDV6 with all options that the tdv8 has standard) is nil..

+ if they make a new engine with around 330 hp it will cost way more in taxes and insurance (current tdv8 with a little chipping gets to 330 .. easy)

buying today a V8 at the cost of the V6 makes sense (as we are talking about an engine that is a fine piece of engineering and definitely the most attractive diesel V8 out there at present)

a new MY11 TDV8 will more likely cost 78000+ euros (around 85000 with a few options) there will definetly be a market for a low k - full optional MY10 tdv8 at 59000 euros (25k less)
