Jimmy - bad luck, sounds like an identical incident to mine. Make sure they check the harness for the rear parking sensors. it can get pinched in a rear ender but is hard to see and then can fail months later.

Bad luck Jimmy!!

Maybe it's this 'small piece of metal' hidden behind a RRS shiney plastic rear bumper that has such a detrimental effect on normal cars frontal area when the decide to kiss your RSS' butt....

I can speak from experience that it does appear to play a major part, although it's not indestructible - had to have mine replaced, which means it has to be cut off and a new one weld on.

So, my car has been with CHPR since monday for it's third service and the little extra.

The only thing in regards to the car accident that needed to be fixed ended up being the sensors for the park assist that were dead.

So minimal damage! Smile Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

That metal bar behind the bumper, is it mounted on a shock absorber of some sort?

I ask because I was watching the excellent Mythbusters on Discovery and they were looking into the so called myth that in a car fire, the shocks can super heat and cause the whole bar/bumper to fire off at speed up to 50m Shocked

They couldn't get it to do it, however they spoke to a Firewoman who had her lower leg shattered by one.

they reckon it is a real 1-in-a-million freakish accident Shocked Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
