Car accident this morning....

Sad

First, afraid I have no picture...

Going to work...reach underground roundabout going into Canary Wharf, stop to let car pass and...the guy behind just don't stop...!

And boom... He was is a BMW 320 and I must say that bassicaly his bonnet is folded in two...

On my side, one or two small marks on the bumper, the black plastic strip that's above it popped out on one side and realised when I parked in my car park that the reverse parking aids don't do their nice noise anymore.... Confused

Luckily (somehow!) car is going for service on monday...so one more thing to tell Lisa this morning (CHPR) . Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Bad Luck there Jimmy, that's a nightmare junction down there too many people in a rush.

Sounds like a similar result to Supacat, when a 3 series went under the back of his.

Hope the damage isn't too bad.

damage not really bad at all actually...doesn't look more than if a guy parks behind you a little hard...main cost I guess will be to fixe the parking sensor...

Anyway, putting everything through insurance...been on the phone for the past 45 mins! Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Testament to the strength of the RRS.

Best to go thru the insurance, I had someone reverse into rear offside door. On inspection three minor dents no paint broken and door operated properly still.

Spoke to a Dentman, and he said he couldn't do it due to protection bar inside the door. Then I realised, wtf am I doing this for I have the other drivers details put it through the insurance.
Needed a new door and most of the side paint blowing in. Came to £2800, on a car worth this much it's much better to put into a LR bodyshop.

Especially as your parking sensors are gone, was told that the door being hit could have affected the sensors that operate the curtain airbags. And you'd never know until you need them.

Whaooo... Glade I am doing it through insurance now! Somehow was felling a little guilty to do it because beside the sensor, very little comestic marks but after reading your adventure...no guilt anymore! Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Same here, felt guilty going through the insurance for what seemed quite minor.

But then thought, why am I worrying about the other driver. It was their carelessness that caused the accident.

How do you miss a 6 foot high, 15 foot long black lump of metal in your mirrors when you are reversing Evil or Very Mad

The other driver did say 'Oh Censored a Range Rover', so he knew it wouldn't be cheap. Then his mate dropped him in it by saying he was talking to him when he was reversing.

Think partly because they were amicable and friendly, thought it was wrong to go through the insurance.

But glad I changed my mind.

If you had any marks on the bumper before the accident, at least you'll get a nice shiny new bumper. Thumbs Up

ST

Think the other Driver only stopped because I was sitting in the car at the time. White Van Man.

As I said, only three minor dents on the car. But the bump felt a lot worse car rocked sideways quite a bit, was expecting more damage. The RRS is a strong old beast. Thumbs Up

It's what you can't see you need to worry about, like stuff behind the bumper and whiplash can be a PITA for years to come, if you don't have it you should think about getting it Whistle

Good advice there Npinks, Laughing

But all joking aside, a rear shunt even at low speeds can cause lasting damge to your neck and/or back. That may not materialise until later.

Worth getting checked out, and even starting a claim. Just to get a line in the sand drawn.

Although I think you have up to three years to launch a claim after an accident, might be wrong.

Pictures aren't compulsory Thumbs Up

Although I generally do take a few snaps after an accident. In case anyone claims not to have been there, or if you take down the reg no. wrong etc.

Yeah let us know.

One thing Supacat found was one of the exhaust tips was bent where the car went underneath.

Sure you're in safe hands with CHPR though. Thumbs Up

Do they have a bodyshop on site? Not many Dealers in London do nowadays.

Bad luck Jimmy... at least nobody hurt and all the right processes are being put in place Thumbs Up

Always worth going through insurance. It's amazing how much the cost of these "minor" repairs becomes when they get into the bodyshop. It's what you pay your premiums for after all Thumbs Up
