How do you know if a website is genuine?

I do a lot of online shopping, but from trusted sites....Amazon, Play.com etc.....

I am buying a camera but have found it on one website significantly cheaper, could it be a spoof that takes your money and doesn't deliver? How can you tell?

the website is camerabox.co.uk

thanks

You should be covered if you pay by Credit Card. As I understand it would classify as card fraud for which the cards take the hit, and not you the consumer...

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I've worked with a company who do intrusion detection for some of the largest retail organisations and some of openings I've seen on websites which handle payments are frightening. It's not just the small sites..it's ALL sites. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Run through to their "https" pages - then check the digital signature. If they don;t have any "https" pages - give it a miss! WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Yes the card industry are reacting by enforcing merchants to implement PCI DSS compliance across their business and IT systems/processes. It's tiered at certain levels, so basically the more tarnsactions a business does, the more onerous the compliance becomes.
