Should I stay or should I go?

Hi guys,

After 2 years in my rrsport I'm getting a bit twitchy and have been looking around for a change - maybe! trouble is I like the rrsport, but really dont use it to its potential. Looked at MY10, bit pricey for me, d4 like a bus.

I'm mainly up and down the M6 in the week and our other motor is a defender htop so I still get to go out for a bit of fun at w/e if needed. So went to look at the Jag XF, nice looking motor, new 3l engine, nice toys etc.

Any views - good or bad

cheers

XF is a great car, especially the diesel S - 535d beater Thumbs Up

It has the same satnav etc as the MY10 RRS as well, so it would keep you semi-connected to the RRS world Wink

XF has a good engine but in my opinion it doesn't look like a Jag, more like a cross between a lexus and mondeo. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

The Jag XF is beautiful Mr. Green

Forget all the previous models and grandad jokes, the XF is far more aesthetic and futuristic compared to anything that comes out of Germany. It may look spartan, but its all just hidden, like an MP's expenses account.

The only thing that does not bode well for me is the front, it does not sit as well as I would like with the rest of the beautiful lines. Just my ten pennies worth, but I would still buy one. Thumbs Up

Even I would consider the Diesel Shocked Shocked L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

5 series for the miles Smile

RRS S/C factory built HST - Gone

45 others have been and gone!

No I'm keeping the slippers and pipe on hold for a few more years!! - but it did feel weird being so close to the ground again.

I know what you mean about the front end - it really put me off when it first came out but gradually it becomes less of an issue. I think generally the body lines look pretty good all round but personally I would prefer to see a slightly different headlight cluster - like the new XJ.

The XF is NOT like previous Jags because they couldn't afford to keep stuck in the past with the pipe and slipper brigade image.

The XF and XJ are fantastic interpretations of what a modern Jag should be.

Just look at the awards the XF has won since launch.

If only Jag would bin the X-type at last, they'd have a completely non-Jag-like range.

It'll only be the ex-Army Major types and fat Americans that this upsets and Jag deserve a better customer profile than that. I hope all of the new Jags do for Jaguar what the RRS did for LR 4 yrs ago; a well-intentioned kick in the arse Thumbs Up

I suppose the other issue is convincing mrs dexter that it's a normal bloke thing to get twitchy about motors every couple of years - she's not convinced

Hi Dexter

Last month i sold my 58 plate sport after a year of nothing but issues. I, like you, looked and tested the jag and also the new e class. both of them are brilliant cars, but i ended up getting a 530d m sport business edition. And boy is it a good car. 2000 miles in, 45+ mpg and a smile on my face everytime i drive it. Did test the new rr sport 3.0d, and as good as it is, when id speced up one with the things i deemed necessary, i just couldnt justify the price to myself. As for the misses, do what i do and trade a skiing holiday or something in 4 it... works everytime 4 me..................................

The Jag XF is brilliant. There are many reasons to buy one and not any I can think of for not.

Anyone who says The new modern Jags are for old farts, are as out if date as the older models cars Jag have replaced. Jag have cancelled the X-Type. The new XJ is out end if the year and if you don't like the current XF front lights, they will be changed for those of the new XJ at tye next update.

The 3ltr XF-S is the one to go for, get the big wheels and you'll be well happy. Residuals are good as well. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

I reckon any updates are a way off - so the decision is made to go for it - XF-S it is. Just got to get the right deal now Smile
