Does detailing remove scratches? - UPDATED

I was going to have my car detailed, it has several scratches and it has been keyed by hippies.

Nothing too deep but very visible. Will a good detailing get this done?

How much is it, £200ish?

thanks

They might BUT a good detail on a car as large as a sport is usually around 400 quid, i wouldn't expect it to be cheaper if they have to put extra effort in on scratches. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

Depends how deep the scratch is, if you've reached primer, or close to it, detailing won't cure it. As you need to take the depth of the paint around the scratch down to the same level of the scratch.

But I'm guessing you knew that Wink

General rule is that if you can catch a finger nail on the scratch it's pretty difficult to machine polish out. It would either need wet sanding back or repainting. From experience, detailers won't get into repairing deep scratches - that's not their forte, but it may depend who you get.

£400ish is a more realistic price for machine polishing. If the cars bad and you want interiors etc doing it could extend into 2 days work. Really depends on what your expectations are and how far you want to go..
