Thumbs Up Let us know how you get on - maybe they didn't polish up or maybe it needs another coat.

Scott

If it's the Lacquer/Clearcoat that's the problem this can be reapplied to resolve.
I managed to scratch the hell out of the bonnet of an ex's week old car, whilst cleaning Seagull Poo off it. That'll teach me to be thoughtful. Whistle
God knows what that Seagull had been eating, but the doppings had 'grit' in it and caused the scratching.
Anyways took it back to the supplying dealer and they reapplied the Lacquer/Clearcoat, was as good as new.

Not sure, but they may have removed the original clearcoat before reapplying.

Well, i took the car back to thebodyshop today, as we had some sunshine for a change you could see the problem with the paint, long story short it appears the painted panels have not been sealed properly after painting, they get a four stage process with the last stage being a sealant applied.

The bodyshop manager applied some by hand to a panel and you could see the colour appear slightly darker and shinier right away, very relieved that its a simple fix, i've now got a good few hours work at the weekend to wax and seal the whole car.

Glad to here the problems resolvable.

Would sound like it's a manually applied lacquer/clearcoat.

Shouldn't the bodyshop be doing the resealing process for you. Or as you know them, are you being an understanding customer? Wink

To be honest i'd rather do it myself, at least i can take my time and do it right, i'll also wax and seal the whole car and not just the panels that got painted, that way it should all look the same.

It's a big car though, by the time you wash it, dry it, wax it, and seal it you've had a fair workout.

That's the key, if you know what you're doing the finish will always be better than relying on a company who have a set time period to do it within. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Thats true, most garages/bodyshops etc just see it as a job and don't really care, and are happy to return your expensive lump of metal back to you in a worse condition than you gave them it in.

scott, mcalia,

totally agree with you, used to take mine into a pretty good hand car wash, but stopped because they always miss something. Then got concerned about potential damage, they could inflict even innocently.
Now I do it myself and too be honest the finish is worth the time and effort, and you can give any any areas of concern particular attention.
However once I have washed, polished and waxed the car, I have usually spent four hours. Confused
Think I have too many tea breaks or I'm bloody slow at cleaning a car. Would never make any money as a car cleaner, never mind as a detailer. Laughing
I found an autoglym product aquawax, which saves a lot of time when doing a quick wash & wax.
No need to leather the car dry before applying the wax, just squeegee the excess off then apply the wax to the wet panels. The finish is surprisingly good for a product that is meant to save time. Saves me approx 30 minutes.
Scott - have fun at the weekend, can get quite addictive once you start. Thumbs Up

You spend a lot of your money purchasing the car so I don't see a problem with spending time cleaning it. No different to looking after your house.

If you're given the choice between two different range rovers of similar spec, you'll make your decision based on the condition and more often than not the difference shows.

Nobody will do a job to the level you want, if they do you're paying ££ Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

McAlia,

Totally agree Thumbs Up

But I would say that the RRS is much cleaner than my house. Laughing
