Hi All,

Does anyone have any shots of the RRS with roof rails and bars attached? The latest catalogue doesn't show then clearly (looks like one shot of the Bali s/c may have rails, but it's not clear).

Would like to see one with them in situ before I decide whether to add them or not.

I bought my RRS with the roofbars already fitted.

For my opinion it breaks the clean line, and i'm going to get them removed in the future.

My advise: only if you realy need to use the roof as a hold, get the kit on ebay for cheap.

For cosmetic reasons only: don't buy them.

I will be doing two runs to the French Alps this winter snowboarding, so need the rails/bars to transport the snow gear - 4 adults inside, and 2 boards/bags etc on the roof.

My ideal would have been for a centre split on the rear seats, but alas, that's not possible. It's also a bit too far to drive from the north of England, to France, with one passenger sat in the centre rear.

Looking at PDF page 6 & page 16, it appears that the rails sit flat to the roofline, rather than "standing up". Can you confirm whether they sit higher than the antenna pod on the roof? In other words, with the bars removed, is the overall height of the car unaffected by having the rails still attached?

Yes, the antena will still be the highest part of the car.

The fixed bars are approx. 2 cm high.

With the cross bars mounted, the car is higher than the antenna.

Check also the USA ebay site, the always have roof racks for sale. Interesting with the low dollar.

I couldn't see the colour of your car in your profile, but if you drive a dark colour, the cosmetic demage is less.

For the extra fuel consumption (min +12%), it cheaper to rent the gear at destination.

I'm quite impressed with what the RRS looks like with roof rails. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Might have remove my crossbars if they cause so much fuel increase I only ever carry something once or twice a tear from b&q ..

Where is France you heading bradders going to be booking my annual snowboarding trip soon

Heading to La Plagne, well Belle Plagne in January, and then in February aiming for the 3 valleys, but not sure where yet - others are booking that one. Also hoping to get a long weekend in early March in Soll, Austria, if the weather is OK - but won't be driving that one, as it's only a weekend trip for the lads.

Does look much better with rails on that I thought it would. One dealer I visited pointed to a Defender with rails, and said they would be "like that" - which, as I can now see is completely inaccurate.

What a salesman at that Dealers.

What if you wanted to test drive a MY2010 RRS and they didn't have any free. Suppose he would have offered to take you out in a Defender. What a lazy sod.
