Hi all, just picked up my first ever RRS 2 days ago.
I also looked at an X5 but decided to go with the RRS because it just looked way better to me.
I had my worries about reliability issues but decided to take a chance anyway.
Almost as soon as I drove off the dealer lot, a warning message with "Low Coolant Level" came on.
The coolant level looked normal when I opened up the hood.
I called up the sales guy but he told me no worries and to return when the service dept opens again.
I thought perhaps they just didn't prep the car too well at delivery but after doing a search on this board,
I realize it maybe a design flaw of the coolant tank/float!

So far I really enjoy driving the vehicle but hope this problem isn't the beginning of nightmares to come.

...hard to believe that 4 years later, this issue is still popping up after the TSB which fixed it on earlier models.

Early adopters beware... The GTR is lighting up like a X-Mas tree with all kinds of special service messages affecting MY2010s. Not a good sign, for sure. Among the many SSMs, here is one regarding the coolant tank issue you are experiencing:

Issue:
Reports have been received of the low level coolant warning message being displayed on 10MY vehicles.

Cause:
Under investigation.

Action:
If a vehicle is identified (10MY only) with the above stated concern, where there are no signs of coolant leakage and the coolant level is correct and a sensor/ float is suspected as root cause please replace the complete coolant tank assembly ensuring the coolant level sensor is not removed.

Please then submit an EPQR as a matter of urgency, a PRR will then be created for the tank assembly to be returned to Land Rover for investigation.

It would be nice if, for once in its storied history, Land Rover did its homework on new models BEFORE releasing them to dealers...  

Agreed, some teething problems are to be expected.

But I suspect LR will need a new set of dentures with the MY10s.

That's why I'm holding off for a while. But fingers crossed for everyone taking delivery now.

Had a mate who had one of the first of the current shape XK Jag's, no end of nightmares with it, mainly electrical gremlins.
Finally over heated on a trip to the South of France, engine seized due to faulty thermostat and dodgy diagnosis from Jag Assistance.
He and his family were flown home, and the Jag transported back to the factory three weeks later.

I dropped off the RRS at the dealer this morning. The service reception guy made a comment about
how he thinks it's just a sensor issue. I am hoping the mechanic is more aware of the possible real problem
with the whole coolant system.

The warning message was not on when I dropped it off so I hope they don't disregard my concerns.

They will likely replace the coolant expansion tank (which contains the floating switch) with a new one, as directed by the above service message. Hopefully the replacement sensor will not develop the same issue. "Under Investigation" means Land Rover doesn't have a clue yet as to what may be causing this issue, so... You are now unofficially a Land Rover beta tester. Best of luck and keep us posted on the outcome! 

Just picked up my RRS and everything is great again.

They did exactly as umbertob said replacing the coolant expansion tank and sending the part/report to Land Rover for investigation.

I sure hope I won't be back at the service department again until next year for the first scheduled maintenance service!

Funny how I thought the same thing as I left the dealership on Saturday after taking delivery of the vehicle!
