HEIGHT CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ON

When i put my suspension height control into lowest setting on rrs s/c hst when i park it goes straight back into extended mode and takes three or four attempts to set and lock into low mode. Sometimes the the suspension fault light comes on and turns the height control off!!! the suspension fault light also came on last week whilst driving on the motorway over 70mph, came on orange turned red and told me to slow to under thirty!!
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

This needs looking at by a Dealer, or at least a LR Independent. Do you have a warranty?

The Suspension warning light coming on whilst driving, could be a number of things. And may not be something serious, maybe a dubious error message from a sensor putting the car into safe mode.

The fact you have the issue of going into extended mode instead of access, sounds a bit more serious. But again may just need an ecu reset.

Worth getting it looked at, it's not fun going into limp or safe mode at 70mph, happened to me a few times.

Sounds very much like a suspension height sensor failure (or failed calibration range).

We have officially had 6 new height suspension sensors on the Company LR D3 and 3 new ones on the RRS (both are circa now 11 months old). We are experts at watching a man change them on our driveway Laughing

They cost about 15 sheets each and the problem got so bad back in March 2009 we actually bought a full set as spares (you in fact need 5 different ones to cover both TDV6 models). Bow down

When the man turns up and says we know what's wrong but due to the high failure rate we have been seeing, we cannot get stock.............. tdaaaaaaaaaaa...... we have some spares for you. Whistle

Thing should read 0 to 5V volts DC with the mid position (normal ride height) at 2.5 volts.

There is water getting in them the man says Shocked But there on the suspension trailing arms I says Question Not the driest place on the vehicle me thinks Idea Perhaps they should be waterproof Whistle

In my humble opinion of course?

A dealer in Somerset (where we broke down yet again) said we have re-calibrated it and now it is fine. It lasted 30 miles. Look, it costs £15, just change it and stop talking cobblers Censored

Censored to drive either at 30mph on the lowered setting - knocks your teeth out.

When they fail now we suggest to the LR Assist that the car has gone to emergency access height (which it has done on several occassions) and not safe to drive (anywhere). That way they sit in the cold on my drive fixing it, not me sit in the cold on the stealer's drive Whistle Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast.

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.

Both my beasties are TDV6 but as this is a mechanical issue, I assume they are the same? Just ask for the right part number at stealer parts desk.

Man can change them on our driveway in about 20 minutes - little servo thing with a nylon plastic arm. He did it without even taking the wheel off but warned to jack the suspension to prevent a height change whilst working underneath?

Change and power up - he does use laptop to check the stroke but not necessary for installation.

Have fun!! Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast.
