So have done 300+ miles since yesterday, mostly A road / motorway. First Impressions are:

1 - People who dont like Range Rovers really dont know what they are on about. I must admit I never wanted to own one before, until i sat in a new one at Goodwood. Driven 300 miles and it is a pleasure to soak up the miles. A more relaxed experience than the BMW, though cruise control is a must still to stop me speeding. I find in the RRS I dont drive as aggresively as in a BMW (which was one of the reasons for getting it).
2 - Sat nav is probably better than using Tom Toms previously. Even traffic alerts seem failry accurate.
3 - Sound system is fantastic
4 - Driving position and seats are first class. Though I say that with a caveat as dont think I have found the ideal driving position yet (i am bit over fusst though).
5 - Phone activated phone dialing is great, works first time all the time at the mo (though only have two numbers setup at present)
6 - Whilst the touchscreen is good, I cant help but think the iDrive on the BMW is better whilst driving. I have to lean forward in the RRS, yet in the BMW just sit back (alot of people dont like iDrive admittedly). This is possibly the only flaw, so maybe I need to get used to it more.
7 - MPG. Is currently 26mpg. This could be reduced from the miles before today. I assume the engine will take a few thousand miles to loosen up and mpg will then improve.
8 - X3. Wife now doesnt want to drive the X3 and just wants to drive the RRS. She has never loved a car so much so quickly!

Had mine now for two years, and the feeling doesn't go away. The most relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable car I have had.

I covered 500 miles over the weekend, down to Dorset and back. On clogged up Motorways, A & B roads approx 15 hours of driving. Wouldn't have wanted to do it in another car.

Yep, fully agree especially with change in driving style. Seats do take a while to get comfy in but they are infinitely adjustable so you will find a position to suit

Totally agree with the more relaxed driving style - I though it was just me that felt the urge to drive like a T*~t everytime I was in the BMW but I'm relieved to see that they bring out the agressive side in other drivers. Can't say I drive much slower in the sport or even take it slower on the twisty stuff (9 - 10k miles on average for tyres and brakes is testiment to that ) but it just feels more relaxed and civilised in the sport and i don't feel the urge to drive parked on the boot of the car in front  2005 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver Ebony Interior Sunroof, RSE, Side Steps

Why is it BMW drivers insist on getting in your boot and it's usually 2.0 litre diesels or smaller. Perhaps they should change the badge to SMW.

I find that the TDV8's engine braking is very good for that at junctions without touching the brakes...........they soon P off when they don't see any brake lights  TDV6 - gone

I have to say I don't spend my time in people's boots, but that may just be me. I find artics, white vans and 17-yr old in Corsas just as bad to be honest.

I think its something that BMW put in the aircon at the factory that causes people to drive like that

I'm with you schmoogle, had a 17yr old in a K reg escort trying to hang on to my tow bar on Sunday.

On a lane at night, don't think he could see past me to the two cars in front of me. As he tried a kamikaze overtaking manouvre of three cars on a blind bend. I'm sure he thought he only needed to get past me.
It screamed like a banshee by the time it got past the third car and back onto the left lane. Lucky boy an Arctic wasn't on the other side of the bend.

I like putting the rear fogs on at night, most tailgaters disappear thinking your braking as you carry on your way.

Love my flying brick, never thought I'd like a 4X4 and realistically only bought it because I needed a car and it was a real deal. Having said that how do you go back to driving anything else. Have driven to France and back fully laden and it was still a dream. 4.5 hours to Whitby tomorrow and I will arrive almost as fresh as I leave. Gotta love it! Could go on, but you know what I'm saying :D :D :D

From personal experience of owning 2RRS's after owning a TD6FFRR there is infact 1 better long haul cruiser than an RRS............... but when you want to do a spot of "spirited" driving on your long haul then the RRS is the better car. The FFRR was even better to drive nonstop for 8-10 hours and get out of feeling like you had just driven to the local corner shop than either the TDV6 or Tdv8 RRS. The seats were even better despite being very flat and the climate control was far better at controlling humidity and adjusting where it was sending the air than the RRS system. But my RRS's have been better "all round" cars than the Full Fat. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
