2010 MY FFRR vs RRS

Now, let me just make one thing clear and that is that any new car purchase for me will be next year, and whichever I go for I am 90% sure it will be a 5.0 V8 S/C, however...

Am I the only one that thinks the 2010 FFRR is now the better looking of the two?

I went through a phase of wanting to trade up to a FFRR but had a phone conversation with Misery and he put me back onto RRS after driving the two side by side.

But now i'm wavering again...

I just think the refresh has put the daddy back on top of my wish list.

That interior is still streets ahead of the RRS (Altho RRS is infinitely better than mine) and all the little gizmo's too that are FFRR specific.

I also reckon that the new variable suspension should make the FFRR a bit more of a drivers car (Not up to RRS standards) but one of the key things for me is ride quality.

The roads here are pretty poor in general and the FFRR glides over tarmac even on 20's.

AM I MAD?

I've yet to drive either MY10s but on the face of it, the FFRR will be the more civilised car to be in I've no doubt of that.

Even though the FFRR does have the new suspension, it still a higher car (not sure if it's still lighter than the RRS) and so will need to do more to stay flat in bends etc. That said, if you're after a magic carpet because the roads in Cyprus are crap then maybe that's a higher priority for you.

Whatever you end up choosing, it'll be a blinder - everything else is a bonus Thumbs Up

No. I think the new FFRR also looks great. I like the front of the new FFRR. The new RRS has got a small grill. But the rear of the FFRR is ugly. Sad
The interior of the FFRR Lux is numinous. So a mixture of the FFRR and RRS is the perfect car. Wink
Btw: why do you call the Range Rover FFRR?

I think the FFRR is arguably the best 'luxury car' on the road. Yes and Rolls Rotce Phamtom would certainly steal the show, but it wouldn't get you across Africa as well as down Knightsbridge. The updated FFRR I think is the bomb, BUT aside the classy new interior and fantastic new front end which looks very modern, from any other angle it is showing its age. I was surprised they didn't change it more. The rear end/rear bumper is very outdated as is the big boxy exterior. The Disco3 is a box as well, but it is softer and still looks modern. I haven't followed the driving improvements, but they still sit very high up and man do they lean around corners....

BMW did a very good job for LR to still be making this car with just updates. For me the RRS is a more modern package and I'd go for a Sport and wait for the all new Rangie in 2012ish...... 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

Interesting opinions and I agree with Shmoogle, either will be a blinding car Thumbs Up

I am inclined to agree with gazzer too about the side/rear profile being a little dated and I suppose on reflection the RRS does look neater, more stylish and compact from this angle.

It's horses for courses really but again agreeing with Shmoogle, A FFRR is better suited to our roads whereas a RRS on 20's tends to crash and bang over potholes.

The interior of the FFRR is still ahead of the RRS, if not most others this side of a Bentley/RR Thumbs Up

I agree with Gazzer comments about the FFRR but I prefer the looks of the RRS.

I do however prefer the ride and comfort of the FFRR. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

But you are comparing a £60k RRS against what is now an eye watering £85k for the FFRR. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

ST - I am with you on this - personally I would go FFRR now as I feel the RRS is just a tad too small for me

Have to agree with ST...

Have seen the RRS only on pictures since it was revealed in New York and thought I would get used to the front grill. Today I have seen it at my dealer and I must say the interior looks great but I can't warm up to the front...looks kind of 'freelanderish" and cheap to me (sorry for saying this..) , but then again what do I know...

Thought of changing it next year, see if there's a new tdv8 coming, but I might hold on to my '07 tdv8 or make a move to the big daddy which I think looks much better now.

JJ
