Thanks for the info on the turbo's for the V8. You can still buy those options for the V6, but agree if you do, it would make sense to go for the V8. (Mind you I got the adaptive lights on my D3 and won't rush to tick the option again.) I would be interested to see how the 2 compare. I reckon a sequential turbo on the V6 must be far better than the V8 set up. Do you get as much foot tapping moments as I do on my D3 as you wait for 1950rpm. Going to try the '10MY RRS on Friday, never buy the same product twice ..........

Seeing as the TDV6 is the same as in the XF, albeit with less power but more torque it will be a fantastic engine.

I agree, at this point of time there is no point why you should buy the TDV8 in my eyes although it does sound really great. I hope they will do a bigger and stronger version of the TDV8 then there will be reason to buy it again - I'm thinking of something like 4.2 ltr., 330 bhp and 700 Nm, that would be great... Sometimes but if I put it into Sport mode the car leaps away from stopped, I put it down to when I do town driving the gearbox remembers that I generally don't burn rubber away from stopped................... I think we might have to wait until the new Jaguar XJ before we see anything of the rumoured 4.0TDv8 which will return us to the desired performance gap between TDv6 and TDv8 In day to day driving I am getting the same or better mpg in my TDv8 than I got in my TDv6 - on a long run on the motorway I regularly see 33mpg in the V8 and that is better than I got in the TDv6 on the same 450 mile run from Stirling to Southampton. But yes the 3.0ltr in laboratory conditions appears to be better, it will be interesting to see if in real life it is as claimed....................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

hmmmm interesting. Im still itching for the new MY10 and was convinced i couldnt give up the V8 when i do get the chance to change (looking for a good deal on the new e class for mum first if anyone got any hookups )... Looks like i might just have to take the 3.0 for a test drive . Then again i want all the options so might just be worth going for the tdv8. I think James was telling me the orders for TDV8's in MY10 are pretty much non existent at the moment . WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

You mean no one is ordering the TDV8? If that is the case, then I think you can see why..... 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE Santorini Black with Ebony Napoli Leather |

Well, I guess it's time then to ask for a TDV8, if you get enough discount for it to be just 2 or 3k more expensive than the TDV6 it makes sense again, I'd say. RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration |
