2005 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Car was keyed last night

Hi Guys, Went into town to pick up a takeway curry last night in the pride and joy. I have just gone to go out this morning to get s local paper and noticed that someone while the car was in town has keyed the passenger side from front to back. And on a black RRS it just looks like a wavey white stripe. Great !

Does anyone know if the police care about things like this, obviously I would like the little Censored caught, well actually I would like him put in a locked room with me for 5 minutes, he would never do it again !!

I have fully comp insurance through landrover does anyone know if this is covered under the policy and do they just fill in the scratch or should they do a full respray of that side.. literally the scratch starts on the front wing behind the headlight and ends at the tail lights..... waving up and down.

going to check if there was any cctiv near where I parked the car....

if anyone has been through this before and can advise I would appreciate it

United Kingdom

Report it to the Police as you will need a Crime number for Criminal damage for the Insurance company.

It's unwitnessed damage so chances of them doing much is poor unless they have a positive policy of investigating all crimes. Some Forces do.
Personally if they told me it was being filed I would do a cctv trawl either side of where you were parked on the off chance that someone was recorded doing it. If you find something then they will have no choice but to investigate.

But then I'm just a stubborn sod Exclamation

Either way Insurance will fix the damage. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Happened to me just 2 weeks after getting.

Censored

Can feel your deep distress Big Cry

10 deep scratches in bonnet, bonnet was completley re sprayed, taken off car.

I was getting a curry to in the Midlands, had strange feeling something wrong as someone in bus shelter outside and it was 12 midnight, only twigged ther next day when spotted damage that buses do not run Sat nights that late.

Doutb the police will be intreseted but would report it anyway, might mess up their crime stats.

Unfortunately, happened to me a couple of times, first time I got it done by one the 'instant' paint vans that come to your home or office and do it a couple of hours.

Looks great for a few months, then you can really spot the difference and its vastly more visible as they rubbed down either side of the damage to blend it. Good for car showrooms where they don't keep the stock for long.

The next time got it sorted by a local specialist who does detail painting on high value cars.......that was a year or so ago and you wouldn't know where the 'runt', (I think that's how you spell it), 'Twisted Evil' had done his handiwork.

Cost about £300 (cash) for 2 panels.'Big Cry', but it seemed like a better idea than an insurance claim.

Heard of a dealer that had 5 RRS keyed last week whilst they were on the forecourt! .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??

.

claimed on my insurance, did not need crime ref no, but remeber it will effect your no claims and if you change insurer it will also mean a higher premium even if you have protected no claims.
