Gents purchasing the NavTeq update disk. It is not as up to date as you may expect. For example it still has the A1 round-abouts on it.

Really, the nav data is out of date as soon as it's sent to the production facility and burned to the DVD.

I wouldn't mind so much but my Garmin Nuvi has had the new A1 roads and A66 changes in it since late 2008.

I bought the full update for western and eastern europe. The eastern european coverage is dire, a real rip-off, especially when you consider that garmin (as a single example) covers the whole region almost 100% but yet the Navteq rubbish covers only small spots of the ex-yugoslavia republics and little bits of hungary. I read recently that Nokia just purchased Navteq for several billion euro in what was the largest ever acquisition by a Finnish company - ever. Maybe they will kick some arse and improve their rubbish map updates. Even their western european stuff is decidedly lacking. RRS TDV6 (gone)

Doesn't Garmin use Navteq map data in its GPS devices? |
