Not as far as I know - why? It doesn't need a new battery as it never goes dead...................... you put it in the ignition and it recharges through the keyhole. You should be using both keys so they both stay fully charged. The key fob is sealed to keep it waterproof for offroading. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ok I will ask LR. I hope it doesn't cost to much. I have one key which works and I bought a second one which isn't programmed.

It's not cheap to have a key programmed, not in the UK anyway.

Hi
The keys are sealed for life, ive opend many for experiments Smile , it nearly kills the case opening them.

You CANT program a used key from another car to fit your car, the second key you need must be dedicated to your cars chassis number.
The keys are pre programed from landrover with the chassis number and some other spacifics that are relevent to your car, the key is a "Crypto" encritped key so the data inside is coded for security.

You are best buying a spare from landrover relevent to your car and have them program it, i think all in about 100GBP

One of my D3 keys stopped working, so I cracked it open (literally) and replaced the battery with a soldering iron. Whilst the opening knackered the blade spring and looks distinctly war-torn, it does now work. Keys (and car) are 4 & 1/2 years old.
