Tow Bar Advice

I looking into getting a towing kit for my husband for his birthday. I've had a look on the internet and seen a few different options, but would be grateful of any advice.

Many thanks

Liz

Firstly, please dont go to a stealer as they will rip you off big time Exclamation Exclamation

The electrics can be bought for approx £90 and fitted in approx 1 hour by a LR specialist (possibly less time depending on how good they are) or if you know someone local it is not that difficult to fit them - plug and play really but getting the wires to the plugs on the car is a bit of a pain.

The tow bar its self can be bought on ebay or from this or the Disco3 site as lots of folk are selling them and they are the geniune article.

Hope this helps,

"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Hi Liz
Definitely DIY - I got the electric cables off ebay for £60 and a mate gave me a tow bar - the dealer wanted £600 to supply and fit. We put the cables in ourselves in about an hour.

Hope it works out for you - not sure I would want a tow bar for my birthday unless there was a nice little speedboat attached!!

Gppd luck.

I was looking at an HSE in a local garage in Culter - remain nameless as they ripped me off for a "holding deposit of £500"!

But.... the salesman stated that all RRS HSEs were wired for a towbar and only the removable attachment was needed to enable towing - doesnt sound right, is it?

Many thanks

If the car is a used buy then get a dealer to check that it doesn't already have the tow pack. It could be that the person who sold the car to the dealer (or dare I say it the dealer as well) kept the removable bit to sell on to somebody else on a well known auction website................................... I still have the removable section from my FFRR sitting in my garage, somebody esle got the rest when I traded the car in for my last RRS!

I don't know what is behind the removable bumper section on an RRS (apart from the recovery eye!) as I always spec my Land Rovers with a towpack with single electrics as I have a small trailer. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Steuart, check that Stratstones won't give you a forum discount - they are one of the sponsors now! Is that Stratstone Perth or what used to be called Town and Country? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
