Questions about my new to me CPO 08 RRS

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I just bought a CPO 08 Range Rover Sport, that I am going to pick up Tuesday, and had a few questions. First what is that thing on the inside cover when you open up the center arm rest? The dealer told me that it's just a defunct item that range rover doesn't use anymore, I find that hard to believe. Second I know there is an AUX in the back of the center arm rest but if I get the OEM iPod hook up how much better will it sound? Also with it you can select song up/down and volume up/down and with just AUX you have no control right?

Thanks and as soon as I pick up my Buck. Blue I'll post pictures,

John

ahhhh.....

In the centre armrest is the fridge / cool box (HSE and up I think). Plugging your ipod into the aux will be exactly same sound quality as OEM ipod connection but you will need to control from the ipod itself. there is a kit you can get so you can control from steering wheel. Forum member JayMann has 1. Cant remember its name

The thing under the centre cubby box lid sounds like the cradle for a mobile phone - up to 2009MY RRS could use a subcradle that clipped into this to hold the phone, connect it to the PTi and charge it. Unfortunately most of the phone cradles were only for older Nokia phones. It gave more flexibilty than the Bluetooth which your 2008MY (like mine) should have as well as this cradle. Your dealer was right, LR no longer fits it and all PTi is via a BT connection
You sometimes find the cradles coming up for sale on fleabay 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thank you very much. I can't wait to pick up my RRS Smile .. I made the dealer throw in the SC grill and 2 side vents figure that will "POP" with the Buck. Blue. Also, I can't believe I didn't ask if it had Sirius, I just traded in a 05 BMW 745i for the RRS, which had Sirius but no aux for ipod.

You will find that it is a car that you just love to get into and drive, even though it's isn't the fastest thing on the roads it is a lovely car to drive. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Nice one, JohnPoo7 Thumbs Up

I think Tim is right, it is likely the now defunct mobile cradle pluggery. Doesn't mean you can't still use it though, if you find a cheap cradle and 6230i on Ebay.

I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. I found out it does have sirius, and dealer claims that The Ipod connector kit is not available. They had a few issues. So I ordered one on amazon that uses the bottom to plug in not the headphone jack so it supposed 2 sound better plus it charges it, hope it looks ok. How is the stereo anyway?
