Backup of Sat Nav DVD

I've just got a new 09/10 Nav DVD and I want to back it up so if the drive chews it (which i have heard happens!) I have a copy. (I want to use the copy in the car)

What is the best way to do this, as i'm not sure that I have the right equipment, my computer reads the dvd disk but I don't know how to copy it.

Thumbs Up I keep telling myself 'It's a toy'
But I've broken quite a lot of toys in my time.....

You need a DVD writer and something like Nero to do the copy for you. Alternatively, if you don't have a DVD writer, you can create an ISO file from the DVD which can happily sit on your PC's hard disk until you need it. You would of course, still need the DVD writer if the worse happened and you did need to use the replacement DVD Wink

Use a good quality double layer disc as the cheaper ones are recognised in the sat nav unit. Download IMG Burn (Free util) to make the ISO, or simply copy the contents of the disc to a folder.

mmmm
I just want to make a copy for my own use, just to make sure I have a working original if needed.

I think after paying the rates charged for this disk, I should be able to do what the hell I like with it!!

merwiz - as I said I don't have an issue with that, having experienced a sat nav unit destroying genuine discs I fully understand.

It's the copyright theft encouraged by others which is not acceptable. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Just to let everyone know, I used Nero 8 and dual-layer DVD +R to make a copy, it seems to work fine.

Hope it doesn't chew the disk as it seems to take about 1.5 hours to burn a copy!!

I think i'll do another one to be on the safe side then store the original away!!

(i've lost two previous disks to the RRS already!)
