but it seems to take an age before they learn vertical addition subtraction etc. Our school offers training for parents so they can see how the children are taught! We do the same for Phonics as well as computing lessons for parents, although my son runs lessons in computers for a couple of TAs (Teaches me too sometimes and he's not 10 yet ) Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

There will be a few children coming therefore I think it's a little too late for policy changes. Wokkaman, I'd suggest that we play it by ear, and perhaps the parents could use their discretion and divert their childrens attention at the point of the video?

There is no option for Alicat as he's on his way, we'll have to accomodate him.

Our school does those parent's lessons too, which is where I was shown these number lines. They don't even do the vertical maths the same way as I was taught it when I was that age.... they do the Phonics too and then there's a tin of "tricky words" that come home for words they can't sound out using phonics. Difficult, all this having to learn stuff again malarkey
