What size wheels n tyres?

Hi All,

We are off to the Pyrenees in Sept doing some light off roading and intend to take the TDV8. The problem is the wheels and tyres as I really dont want to uase the current 275/40R 20 Stormers for obvious reasons.

Can anyone shed some light as to what size wheel I can go down to - remember the Brembo's and what tyre would be suitable, something along the AT range etc.

I have read alot about the Bowler 18" wheel and changing the Harmonic dampers around but has anyone on this site actually done that and what were the results - folk from the UK on this point please.

Thanks,

Russell. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Russell take a look over on the tyre section of Disco3 - they have lots of useful stuff there. I believe Pirelli have now got a 19" All Terrain that is suitable for the RRS so you will get a higher side wall for off roading and relatively quiet high speed running on road. Normally 19" is the smallest "standard" wheel/Tyre that your TDv8 will be able to wear because of the Brembo's
BTW also take a look in their For Sale section - you might find a set of wheels and tyres for sale over there too 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Unfortunately you also have to order something like 100 sets/400 wheels as well........................... I looked into a group buy last year and Bowler/ Compomotive would only do them based on a special production run without the Bowler logo cast into them Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

But people have bought these before for their RRSs.... are you saying they need a job lot to have them with the Bowler logo in them? Confused

Just keep the 20" rims and fit a set of 20" Cooper LTZ all-terrain tyres. 'ronp' on disco3 can sort you out and uses some himself, the sidewall is higher than the 19" MTRs:

Another alternative is a set of 19" rims shod with Pirelli Scorpion ATR or Goodyear MTRs if you really don't want to get stuck, lol.

You CAN buy the 18" Compomotive PD1880 rims (just not from Bowler) and they work perfectly, but IMHO, not worth the cost now that there are decent choices in 19" and 20" tyres.

Also don't forget MY06 FFRR 19" rims with MTRs or ATRs. Make sure 7 spokes, old 6 spokers won't fit. Pics of rims with MTRs in my gallery on the disco3 site. Thumbs Up

PS can be bought cheap as chips as it's not just you peeps that pimp your wheels!!!

I thought the Bowler wheels needed the harmonic dampers turned around or removed? Is this a new wheel they have made that fits with the Brembo's? "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

They look really cool, but do they fit on the RRS or do you need spacers of some sort? "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

Hi DSL,

Do you have some of these for sale or do you know where to buy them?

Thanks,
