Exhaust smoke-TDV6

Mine is 09 model with little over 2000 km on it.

It is my first diesel car and I knew it would make more exhaust smoke than gasline cars would.

When I give it some gas, I can see some smoke coming out from exhaust. Just gradual excellerating, not kick-down.

Can I reduce the amount of smoke coming out? Thanks. 09 TDV6 HSE, Stornoway Grey/Black, Sat. DMB/Navi, 2GB memory, Rear view camera, 12 CD/MP3/DVD changer, 35% Lumar tinting, Custom exhaust tips

I guess some countries get different OEM settings. There was no option list here in Korea for RRS. I just bought a RRS TDV6 and it came with:

1. Beside 6 in-dash changer, I also got 6 DVD changer in the back. It's located inside panel.
2. Sat. DMB(TV) & DVD Navi. They use OEM screen and antenna on the roof. I believe these were installed by Land Rover Korea in Korea, not in UK.

Yeah, I heard about 2 stroke oil thing but I'll pass it. Thank you for the info. 09 TDV6 HSE, Stornoway Grey/Black, Sat. DMB/Navi, 2GB memory, Rear view camera, 12 CD/MP3/DVD changer, 35% Lumar tinting, Custom exhaust tips

Yes that's true. But when I see BMW X5/6s with 3.0 diesel excellerate, I don't see much smoke like mine. Does anyone know why? 09 TDV6 HSE, Stornoway Grey/Black, Sat. DMB/Navi, 2GB memory, Rear view camera, 12 CD/MP3/DVD changer, 35% Lumar tinting, Custom exhaust tips

i find the smoke on acceleration very useful when being tail gated by aholes in Cabriolets when they have the top down, used it to affect on a Volvo V70 rag top and a Saab so far on Sydney's northern shore Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Germany 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey

You could buy a German version with "Dieselpartikelfilter", after that no smoke at all! Thumbs Up

Drawbacks: Less power, less mpg, minimum one trip to the stealers every month due to not working filter system, etc. But still no more smoke! Mr. Green

Yes, I am happy to have the old version without filter - on the other hand I will not be allowed to drive through some German cities from 2012 on. Rolling Eyes Not that I care...
