Hi all!

I'm looking for a tip to remove blue dye from my Alpaca leather. The dye has come from blue jeans and has stained the hip of the seat as you get in. Does anyone have any ideas about how to remove it (preferably without using something that would melt through the chassis!)

In return i'll impart a couple of my own "top tips"

1) Seat belt snap! Figured this out a couple of years ago when my seat belt got trapped causing some damage to the door panel as the door slammed on it. It happened cos the seat belt had become slow to retract and I found after some experimenting that you could return them to their new "snap back" state with a quick procedure.

1st clean the area where the seat belt reels in using upholstry cleaner. grease from the seatbelt (euch!) builds up on the runner and needs to be cleaned off. Then, when dry, spray the whole area with bog standard cheap silicone spray (the kind for shining your dash). Then pull the seat belt all the way out and spray the length of it's inside as it goes back in. Thats it, the seatbelt will now snap back as though the car was brand new (this only works if your car isn't brand new!).

2) A quick 1. Badge removal..... A quick and easy way to remove the badge from the back of your car (for rebadging..... or so you can steal someones vw badge in an 80's beastie boys style!) is to use dental floss. Just run the floss down the back of the badge effectively "sawing" through the foam backing. Pick off the remainder with your fingernail or plastic tool. The residue will come off easily with car polish or tcut (careful)
(again this second tip won't work if the badge is screwed or riveted on

Dont forget, if anyone has the blue dye removal tip then youre better than my upholsterer guy cos he didn't have a clue!

Johnson's baby wipes work well for this or if the colouring is a bit more stubborn, try the Meguiars Aloe Gold leather cleaner

for VEY SMALL marks use a qtip dipped in perfume, this will remove any stain but just be careful on the size and area you treat, try out in a non obvious spot first Brit across the Pond

Willy Wonka, how on earth did you get them to replace your seat cover under warranty? Where did you go to get it done. They are only 18 months old and are looking a bit rough as a result of this.

pmsl I have had that on seatbelt befoe just blamed my sister!

I bought some leather wipes from Halfords in a resealable pack

They do the job nicely RRS gone
