1st service

hi guys. my 58plate 2.7 hasnt done 5.5k yet, and today the service warning saying service 17. does this seem early or is this a normal time for the 1st service? do these cars go into a safe mode if you over run the service indicator like bmw can, as its booked in at the end of the month to have the rust and paint done. i phoned my stealer but the receptionist obviously forgot to pass my message on to anyone that gives toss!

rust.... nothing major, about an inch in length on the back offside door has started bubbling under the paint and the lac. the dealer didnt believe it to start with but when i arrived to show them it was clear for them to see. they said that it was the first sport theyve had with paint defects, though theyve known it on the disco 3. its going in to have it taken down and painted or new door if needed. it could just be some dirt or metal files under the paint from the factory. we will see..........

Service Interval Indicators are region specific.
Over here the numbers mean there are (17) days left to the next service and the numbers will keep going down over the next days. Confirm this in your car.

Don't worry - nothing drastic will happen if you do not service the car in time, except that the figures will start going up after zero, albeit with a minus (-) sign infront! Smile Malaysia Boleh!

its saying 16 today so it must be a daily countdown, but i cant find this type of message in the manual anywhere? i looked at the date i picked it up from the dealer and it was exactly 6 months old yesterday, coincidence that the message came on that day or programmed by the dealer???

As previous poster's have said, the service interval in the UK is 15k or 1 year whichever comes first.

So unless you've done 15k in 6 months, I'd say the clock has been wrongly programmed. There are other markets where services are required every 6 months, so it's not unlikely that this is the problem.

Best speak to your dealer to confirm Thumbs Up

There have been numerous questions posted in the forum asking about service intervals and schedules.
I took the trouble to post proper "Maintenance Schedules" here...

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic13315.html

..and I politely requested any forum mod to 'sticky' it but alas, although there have been more that 200 hits, apparently none of the mods noticed it. Big Cry Malaysia Boleh!
