Interesting points in the RR press pack:

Fuel consumption reduced by 7.3 percent* to 19mpg* (14.9
l/100 km*) and CO2 emissions of 348g/km* – a reduction of 7.4
percent* - Unfortunately means Gordon will still be ripping us off left right and centre Evil or Very Mad

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The exterior seems worse to me. Front end looks worse. The side vents look worse. Precious little else of note on the outside. Those wheels on the photos look ridiculous.

I think the media system will be the biggest advance .... by the look of it. Nothing much wrong with the MY09 HSE interior as it is. The pictures suggest that the interior doors will be leather trimmed .... a weak point on the current interior as it hurts my elbow when I rest it beside the bottom of the window at present. Although, maybe that will be only a premium interior trim for lots of extra dosh?

It seems to stop short of the interior on the new XF range.

Good news on the 3.0 litre engine with the twin turbo engine – but still nowhere near the performance figures (fuel economy, horse power and 0-62) of an equivalent X5 or X6.

Not sure it will kill residuals, but it will probably hurt sales of existing non-facelift models. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

For what it's worth, I think it's the interior that makes it for me and I think will bring a lot of previous owners back to the fold again.

I'm still not sold on the new design wheels I don't think.... but the rest of the improvements are cracking I think. Clearly stepping the RRS towards the FFRR in terms of finish. Makes you wonder what the future holds for the finish of the "new" FFRR that is still years off.

The dash topper and door toppers are now proper leather ones, as opposed to the uncomfortable ones at the moment.

I think it is a real success.

Agree, I don't particularly like the new 20's but how many of us have the wheels our RRS came with still fitted? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I wonder 'Virtual dials' means they are easily switchable/interchangable between mph and kph.

I really don't know why this idea hasn't been adopted by more manufacturers as it would surely eliminate the need for production of 2 lots of dials for different markets.

Also, at the press of a button should you drive abroad, it instantly changes.

This would leave more space for EITHER mph or kph to be displayed, not both at the same time. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Reliability I suspect. Although technology has moved on, back in the 90s when there were cars with "digital" dashes they caused nothing but trouble. In the early 90s I had a Carlton GSi ( Whistle ) and that had a digital instrument cluster which gave up the ghost. When I took it in to have it replaced, the dealer suggested swapping it for a standard analog unit as they were forever having them come in broken.

I take it this system is more like the system they have in the S-class?

Taken from Pistonheads...

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=19713

"The new 5.0-litre V8 will power the Range Rover sport from rest to 60mph in just 5.9sec thanks to a 29 per cent more power gain and 12 per cent rise in torque."
