Buying a FFRR

Guys,

Gonna buy a FFRR for the SHMBO and export to Vietnam for her. Off to see the dealer tomorrow but it seems as if we have to buy a pre-owned to avoid 8.5% sales tax (VAT) here in Texas.

My Choices:

A. 08 FFRR SuperCharged Silver no Rear Ent $78,000 (10k miles)

B. 08 FFRR HSE, Buck Blue, 20inch wheels, Rear Ent, Premium Pack (cool seats) $67,000 (14k miles)

The wife doesn't mind what she gets but it will be my transport later this year also....so I do Whistle

Votes for A or B ? Wink

Cheers,

Adrian.... Brit across the Pond Wink

Adrian, don't know how the inventory is at Houston dealers, but here in SoCal you can easily find brand new 08 FFRR S/C, fully loaded with RSE and all toys for around 75K, and HSEs inclusive of every possible option for well under 70 grands... So I think you'd be overpaying for either of those slightly used cars, but then again your market may be different.

I always start with an inquiry on www.carsdirect.com and know I am in the ballpark (for new cars) before even visiting a dealer. The deals on new 2008s are pretty incredible right now - on Disco/LR3s and FFRRs especially - Land Rover dealers here are flush with leftover 08s and getting desperate... In 10 days the hot new 2010s are introduced in New York and they haven't even touched the 2009 inventory, it's still sitting at the various ports of entry! Laughing

Well Guys, I visited my local dealer to see the FFRRs and took the HSE for a spin. Must say the cabin is nice but compared to my RRS its like driving in a pool of jelly with an acceleration to match. But as its for SWMBO then thats fine as she will be dodging scooters anyway Thumbs Up

I have my prices and beat them down to a more reasonable level on the HSE with the Chilled seats and RSE. So now I have to decide and do the math on shipping costs etc.

They even tried to sell me a rather nice Autobiography for $110k Rolling with laughter (didnt know the US did them) with an upgraded leather and what looked like Blue tinted rear lights Laughing however my eyes were averted by a rather nice R8 at the time.

But best news of the day is that my RRS passed its first state inspection (MOT) with no issues Whistle Brit across the Pond Wink

...and why not simply export the Buck blue RRS to Vietnam instead of buying a new one? PJPR

Aha...I see, well I suppose if she's going to be carrying around loads of stuff, there's probably more room in the FFRR...so are you going to sell the RRS here before you leave? Somebody will get a sweet looking car. PJPR
