suspension made from cheese

still not fully decided to buy a RRS or not, ive read loads of posts about the suspension being a weak point on these cars, read how it starts to make knocking noises after a few miles, even brand new cars do this.

also read that Land Rover do not like people fitting 22" wheels to the car as this screws up the suspension!! i thought this car was a off roader? it should be able to fly over pot holes, cope with the most difficult of terrains but add and extra 2 inches to the wheels and the car falls over!

this doesnt fill me with the confidence to part with my hard earned cash to buy one of these cars.

Yawn

show me 1 post where 22" wheels have "screwed up" the suspension? you get a harder ride, sure, but that's due to the laws of physics.

You may be better off with a Toyota. They're more reliable Thumbs Up

i didnt say thay they cause a problem i said Land Rover claim that they cause problems -

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic13614....=overfinch

http://rrsport.co.uk/forum/post190895.html#190895

Other suspension related problems, the RRS is supposed to be a off roader so the suspension should be 100% fault free but this is not the case -

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic12862.html

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic7227.html

RRS also came very low on JD Power survey

http://www.jdpower.com/autos/Land-Rover/Ra...UV/ratings

http://www.autoindustry.co.uk/news/10-08-06_14

Common Problems with RRS, seems like a big list -

http://www.rangerovers.net/rrsportremedies.html

i'm not slagging the RRS off in any way, im just doing my research before i fork out around 30k for a car i regret buying.

Believe it or not, the RRS came second in its class (Large Premium MAV) in the 2009 JD Power survey. Also remember that most people who own RRS probably don't join forums because nothing goes wrong with their cars.

The vast majority have had no problems with suspension, even when used in extreme off-road situations.

its a real shame, i had my heart set on a RRS its a gorgeous looking car, but i'd be always worried that i've opened a can of worms everytime i took a drive in it, waiting for something to fail, that would just take the joy out of driving and owning this car.

the main reason for buying a car like this was for my family, after almost being hit head on by a drunk, drugged up joy rider i promised myself that i would sell the family car and buy a big 4x4 or other huge tank like vehicle for the safety of my family, screw wot the eco warriors say, let them have their tiny pedal powered cars. but wot really put me off was post on this forum of people saying that their RRS almost killed them or their family with mainly suspension faults.

so its with a very heavy heart that i have to cross off the RRS from my shopping list, maybe i'll get a hummer, lol

but thanks for all your help guys, lets just hope Land Rover get their act together when it comes to putting their customers first, if they dont they wont have many left.

You've been asking the same questions since 2007 - have you actually driven one yet?

I am so sorry that your heart is heavy. Are you absolutely sure that you are making the right decision? None of us here would want you to be at all hasty and suffer even more of a broken heart because we care very much about whether or not you buy an RRS. Big Cry

You have asked lots of questions, had lots of answers from members and done a simple search to make up your mind anyway regardless of what members have said from their (not too heavy) hearts. Big Cry

Are you sure you are thinking of your family in making this decision? Big Cry

Maybe you should buy an X5 or an ML but please don't visit any forums relating to their product, there will be some faults mentioned and it may take you another 2 years to make a decision and you might get a broken heart all over again. Unfortunately, oh God, I don't know how to say this, but not all cars are 100% reliable.

Notice I said that "we" might send some tissues....I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't be the only one contributing to the tissue fund.

Mind you, with a name like Val, she could be a Sheela so I might have to keep them for myself...you don't think she would look like Wozza's picture do you? Laughing Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
