Any Quad bikers out there?

Thinking I might get a quad for the summer as there is quite a bit to go at here but where maybe a RRS wouldn't fit or get too much damage/scratches etc., plus they are good for riding around when the sun is shining.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?

I'm thinking more along the lines of a 4x4 than a racing quad however don't want something that looks like a farmer would ride Confused

Have a couple of ideas but interested to see what those in the know suggest

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

I've had some great fun off roading on quad bikes in the past, but I'm not too keen on the road going version.

Everytime I've seen them being driven on the road it is normally some shell suit wearing chav type, who seems to think that the laws of the road do not apply to them. And why isn't it compulsory for them to wear crash helmets? Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Just remembered another question which VA has made me think of:

It will be used on the road as well as off road. I believe there are EU regs ( Yawn ) which limit the power of road going quads to 15Kw which isn't really all that appealing.

Is this right?

Does anyone know how easily they can be derestricted?

Thanks again Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I'd be more worried about how long you will have it before it gets nicked. Very popular with the travelling fraternity.

If you are using it on the road then must be registered and display a reg plate, tax, insurance. And whilst you don't need a helmet I would suggest it's only common sense in case you have an error of judgement and fall off, get knocked off or roll it. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Cheers Jonny Thumbs Up

I believe a 500 is quick enough as with a 800 I would probably get myself into some pretty big trouble! Laughing

By all accounts, Can Am use Rotax engines which deliver much more power per cc than rival quads.

This one will top out (De restricted) at around 70mph! Shocked Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
