Thoughts at 1000 miles

hello, I picked up my TDV8 3 weeks ago from CHPR and here are a random selection of thoughts:

1) Its grrrrreat! We all love it, the kids have enough space in the back to not have a constant turf war (and a 12v plug for nintendos), the passenger can look at things they never knew existed - like the supemarket at the end of the M67 behind the high concrete blocks, and the driver can continually get off on that lovely V8 burble

2) Its green. Well kind of, it really is a monster compared to our old 330d and so its usually only used 3 or 4 up and lives in the garage the rest of the time. Please note as well as the LR carbon offset the main driver probably does as many miles on push bikes as he does in cars

3) Its a lovely way to do 3h on a motorway. My old BMW was pretty good but you just cant beat the driving position, space and general sense of well being

4) Its actually mostly British, apart from the Indian bits Smile

5) There is too much adjustment in the driving position. i moaned about this when I first got it. As a lanky spider limbed streak of you know what I usually just put the drivers seat as far back as it will go and recline it to a racy angle. The problem here is that the RRS seats go waaaay back and I have a whole heap of other options with the seat squab and steering wheel. I cant put my finger on it as my BMW had a similar spread, if not electrically powered, but its taken me this far to get the seating position to my liking - now all safely stored in the memory and lazy entry!!

6) Can I mention the V8 noise again Smile

7) A minor moan but there could be more storage space for car park change, sunglasses and stuff. The glove boxes are too far for an easy stretch for the driver and Ive never liked door bins

Cool Does my car have R2D2 hiding near the off side rear wheel arch or do they all make beepy noises from here? If so what the hell is it, I can only really hear it when parked up with the gnition on

9) The dealers are patchy at best. I must mention CHPR where it came from and also Nick at Yeovil who has been very helpful buying some bits and pieces but several others have just been poor when I bought and just bloody annoying with second rate advice about LR accessories

10) The V8 makes a good noise - have I covered that?

11) Its pretty useful having a decent online facility for advice and research

12) Im getting the same fuel consumption on a mixture of town and motorway as a 1600cc supermini Smile

14) Im completely not scared about more snow, eating lunch at the mother-in-laws with the prospect f being snowed in their whilst a BMW driver isnt at all relaxing Big Cry

Im sure theres more

MOR

Good point - Ive just nipped out to the garage to give it a good pointless revving up
The engine makes a nice noise Smile

MOR

EDIT: Tiko - nothing wrong with the Indian bits at all, I will probably be able to identify them soon when all the British bits have fallen apart Rolling with laughter
