I had mine repaired for the MOT. I prefer that they don't take the original out unless they have to. The elements shouldn't be affected. Why not try a repair first, if you don't like it get it replaced. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |

Bad luck Wokka... most insurance companies like to try a repair if the replacement isn't completely necessary. They'll doubtless end up using Autoglass anyway.

Saying "don't ask" to VA is like a red rag to a bull

Someone told me the origional is bonded into the car. And that if you replace it they can't bond it in so therefore it may not be waterproof.

Heard the same, but thinking about it - would they make a car where the UK's largest windscreen repairer couldn't refit as per factory? I think it's more likely due to be a bad fitting job when it leaks (not saying Autoglass are immune to this!)

I was told that it was very difficult to get the old screen out without damaging the paintwork/trim of the surround due to the way the screen is bonded in to give a flush (aerodynamically efficient?) glaze. Also that in most modern cars with bonded screens the screen contributes to the body rigidity. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had 3 or 4 screens in last RRS - trim fitting only issue on couple of occasions - water tightness and fitting OK ish....
