To be honest, even a RRS can't compete compared to other 4x4's

IMHO, I would disagree with that completely. Smile

My RRS has been everywhere the other (unmodified) 4x4's go (Patrols, Lancruisers, Prados, Shoguns etc). And on the trips I have been on I haven't had any problems, and have not had to be snatched/recovered where some of the others 4x4's have - even when I was previously on the original Goodyear F1 road tyres.

In fact most of the 4x4 drivers I have met here in Aus give the RRS a lot of respect and kudos for its 'out of the box' off road capability.
Where it does leave almost all of the other aforementioned 4x4s behind is when it is back on the bitumen, - they just don't have the on road capability. The German's do, but then i do not believe they have the off road capability of the RRS - articulation, clearance etc.

My two penneth for what it's worth, based on my experience! Thumbs Up

When I say other 4x4's I am mainly refering to other LR 4x4's - having taken the RRS offroad myself I am fully aware of how capable it is.

p.s. I never said unmodified btw

btw, whats the argument - the RRS isn't the most capable 4x4 on the market - however it has the best combination of style and ability money can buy. Back to the original point though, when LR update the engine and spec to match the competition it will definitely lead the pack imho

I agree bout the green dot matrix casio displays, this should really get sorted out... Is there no after market solution to this?

I think that's also being addressed for MY2010. The RRS cluster and electronic displays / cabin gizmos should look a lot like those in the Jaguar XF in the upcoming freshened interior.

Which other LR products are you referring to specifically Question

Again based on my (limited) experience, I would say the that RRS can get everywhere a Disco 3 can (that should be a given anyhow!), and in one specific example my RRS managed to get through quite a nasty bog hole that sadly left a Disco 2 with water in the cabin and needing to be winched. Big Cry

I am not an expert as this is my first LR product, so am happy to stand corrected by the more experinced LR owners here and on other sites. Smile

Agreed, but i don't think you can fairly compare modified 4x4's with none modified 'out of the box' 4x4's. Too many variables. Thumbs Up

As you will already know they're are plenty of unmentionable 4x4's that would embarass a RRS offroad Thumbs Up

Sorry to drag this on Laughing but I disagree - in stock form, there isn't a 4x4 that would embarass an RRS, or any other modern LR (not including Freelander) - even the Defender just has better clearance, no other advantage.

Back on topic - there are some US companies that have got major BHP gains from the S/C engine, just search the American forums Thumbs Up

Actually RRS with Dynamic Response and cross-linked air suspension has better cross-axle articulation than a Defender, and 200 mm better wading depth. Wink

It's just that most RRS owners are less willing to risk dragging the floor along the ruts compared to the beam axles on a Defender.

Does someone keeping saying the RRS isn't very good offroad?? Cos I'm missing that post - you don't need to prove anything to me as I already know its great offroad.

Everyone has stories of how there car is better than another - I've seen VA get stuck where plenty of stock Disco3's have got through (sorry Dom), plus I've witnessed a Suzuki Jimny rescue a Def 90 but that's just all part of the fun of going offroad.

Personally I don't subscribe to the 'my cars better than your car camp' as its just silly as all cars have plus and neg points.
