Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

Take no notice of the others, none of them look as good as an RRS, so what if they can go faster it just means that you don't have to look at them for any longer than you have to. Mr. Green

Agreed! Thumbs Up
I've parked my RRS near some Cayennes, X5s etc., and I've noticed most people admiring my car more than the others!
Somehow the RR badge is enough, what more when the RRS is the best looking 4X4 around! Laughing

I simply love the admiration! Cool Malaysia Boleh!

As Bobby says, what looks the part, in the Northern Shores of Sydney, X5's, Cayennes and ML's are two a penny, they do not get a second look, they are more common than fords in Essex, the Sport however always does even now gets a positive appraisal, which is not bad on a nearly 4 year old marque Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

You could get the SC engine chipped, Cats removed and a new supercharger pulley installed.

Fair enough, but out here the RRS (especially in white - believe it or not Whistle ) is becoming the two-a-penny car!

The Cayenne can, they are very good offroad, but you need to pay extra to have the offroad pack (ie 4WD) on the latest ML in the UK and the X5 would get stuck at the entrance gate.............................................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Maybe tim, but whereas the RRS has the looks, the ability and the prowess.....the cayenne only has limited abilities courtesy of the vw developed and borrowed system.

Buy a LR product and be assured it will go anywhere, buy a competitor and constantly think, did I order that = incomplete package. No wonder they advertise they go quicker, they are missing the tackle required to be a proper 4x4!! Whistle L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

they're all proper 4x4's - however the RRS leads in the offroad stakes but fails behind in other areas - if and when LR raise there game in their weak areas then it will awesome - just imho

Sorry mate disagree, I have "played" with all off road (properly) and to some extent the Porche/VW is by far the best and close, closely followed by the Merc, but no way would you be able to follow the RRS "off road" in a porche and the BMW just thrashes about and then throws its toys out the pram?
Had my mates P turbo a couple of weeks ago and hated every minute!

disagree all you want - they are all still 4x4's - they can't compete offroad with the RRS however just because they are not as good doesn't mean they are not 4x4's. To be honest, even a RRS can't compete compared to other 4x4's, however its a great combination of ability and style.

Thumbs Up

With the 'off-road' pack, an ML or GL gets front and rear diff-locks and huge ground clearance. You can also get full diff-locks on the Cayenne and Toe-rag. However, they ALL suffer from very poor articulation and wheel travel at off-road height, low air-intakes, and the traction controls can give up fairly quickly. They also lack the cross-linking that gives the RRS/D3 much better articulation.

The RRS is far, far better off-road and it's chassis is robust enough for long distance off-road punishment. If LR could get the minor details right (like reliability lol), it would be the ultimate multi-purpose car. It's also the best looking of the bunch. Thumbs Up

Gonna tell you a story (is he still alive?) took the RRs back in Aug 2006 RRs was 1 month old, for a workout down to somewhere in Kent, had a little play, with a Porche behind me, then we lost sight of him so we reversed up and found him in the dip, had to drag him out (both had road tyres) when we got back to the meeting area we had a chat, so he gave me his manual (suspecting he hadn't engaged his off road modes) this time he asked if I would drive, to which I said yes as I had never driven a Pig before) and off we went with my wife in front leading the way, low and behold I had all sorts of probs keeping my wife in site but we did manage to complete the course with its gismo's? Merc ML took to a private test ground owned by Vince C the Off Road guru and tried to follow my P38 without much success even though this was equipped with all the gizmos's locking diffs, TC etc as he was taking it abroad, needless to say he spend a bl.... fortune having it prepped? BMW, well we were asked by a TV company to put the Beemer through its paces, oh dear what a mess, almost as bad a JC on top gear but very funny, unfortunately we are not aqllowed to publish said film?

Gary - sorry mate, but your missing my point - I said they are all proper 4x4's to which you disagreed. I never said they are all as good as a RRS - they aren't - nevertheless they are still all 4x4's.

As you will already know they're are plenty of unmentionable 4x4's that would embarass a RRS offroad Thumbs Up
