Bahrain 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Nara Bronze
Need a quicker Supercharged anyone?

Ok, this is basically just a rant.. I got beat by a Cayenne S (new shape) a couple days ago, and it kinda made me feel inferior for a while Crying or Very sad

One of the reasons I bought a Supercharged was because it's the quickest RR available. But the truth is, if you want a quick 4x4, practically everything else on the market nowadays is basically quicker (not even top of the range models). And they all have better features inside, i.e. electric everything, cooler gadgets, colour screens - not some dot matrix thing that was taken out of a 1980s Casio solar-powered calculator!!! (Mind you, it still looks like an absolute stunner from the outside!)

Have any of you lot ever felt that you could've (or should've) gone for the Cayennes, Mercedes ML63s, or even the BMW X6 50i? If your answer is no, then please help me feel better as to why I have a two an a half tonne Land Rover on my drive, with no particularly interesting gadgets inside Big Cry And please don't say, "buy a sportcar if you want speed" etc etc, as I am thankful for the bootspace and excellent road presence..

And mods, if this is deemed to be some left-wing anti-RR hate speech, please ban me for life! Whistle

i think LR know this is a big issue - the new engines (5.0 V8 etc) and facelifts should resolve these issues - I hope

Take no notice of the others, none of them look as good as an RRS, so what if they can go faster it just means that you don't have to look at them for any longer than you have to. Mr. Green 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Kaine is right when LR put the 5.0ltr S/C in the RRS it means it should be able to kick sand in the faces of all of them except the V12Tdi Q7 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The new sport might beat it on looks but don't think even with the new 5ltr it will beat a ML63 Big Cry

Hmmm. The ML63AMG is different league, but so is the price! Yes it will hit 60 in 5 seconds, yes it will top out (limited) at 155 or nearer 180 if you cross the palms of the men at Affalterbach with lots of euros, so what? Mercedes AMG are not unbeatable, far from it. The new S/C 5 litre JLR motor is easily and relatively cheaply tunable to give well over 600bhp (just like Rocketsports Racing did with the Bonneville Jag XF)
You may rest assured that a certain little tin-pot engineering house in Coventry will produce an ML63AMG-beater, just like they built a G55AMG beater!! It wont cost anywhere near GBP 80k, either!

ST, I know what you mean about the ML63, there's one in the Merc showroom here (along with a G55!) Twisted Evil

The problem with the RRS is that even with the new 5 litre engine, I fear that it would return only reasonable results on the strip.. The competition is going faster with less power! and cheaper! (well here in the middle east anyway)..
